Any problems with your big SLIM RACK SLIDES?

I have had some issues with my big Schwintek slides on my 2016 North point 377rlbh.

I see they have changed to the SLIM RACK system on the bigger slides on the '17 and '18 North point and Pinnacles. (It's the track system that sits about an inch away from the slide wall.) Pictured below

Who is having problems and who is not????

Thanks for the feedback. I'm considering a possible upgrade!

(John 14:6 "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.")

No problems yet, but we’ve only had our rig 10 days. I did notice that the new system runs much slower than the old, but that could just be lower gearing in the motors because the slide is bigger and heavier. The motors also whine a lot more.

The bedroom slide is still the “old” track system.

Mine is almost touching the side wall. Dealer says it is normal, but it is only bottom rail close to the rear that is this close to side wall. The other 3 are straight and look like the 2nd photo.

That is strange. Certainly doesn't look normal. I have limited faith in Jaycos choice of slideout systems after all my problems.

Does it seem to run in normal? And what is normal compared to a schwintek slide?

Greetings J&JTrumpet from Harrisburg, PA.

I have to wonder how that big cutout in the rubber seal keeps the rain out.

Yea seems to come in normal, little slow but guess that is to be expected with such small rails on a heavy slide. I have asked Jayco to confirm if it is normal. Does, not seem like it to me since the other 3 rails look like the same with about an inch and half of spacing from the slide wall.

I know right! It looks like another seal is inside a bit further, so that may be the rain stopper. Although Magnolia Tom has a great story about slides and the rain. Hope he sees this post so he can share his story.

Mine look exactly like yours. The same one seems to bow in and touch the side.

My kitchen slide looked like it was "twisting" a little when I would open or close it. I stopped it about half way out and measured the gap between the slide and trailer and the gap in the front and back of the slide was different by 1 inch. At that time all the racks were straight and none were touching the side. So I figured the motors were out of sync and the control module or stop limits needed to be reset.

I called Lippert and talked to a tech and he said it was normal for them to flex a little. He said they were actually made for that. I asked him about the 1 inch gab difference and if my limits needed to be reset or motors synced up. But the control module I have that controls the slide is auto-programing and there is nothing to adjust or set. All you have to do is to run it completely out and completely in which auto-programs it. He said as long as it opens and closes completely then there is nothing to worry about. I was not too happy with that response so I decided to call back a couple days later and I spoke to someone different. They gave me basically the same explanation. So I just open and close it now and try not to think about it much....

Our 2015 31rets is a lemon. We are at our dealership waiting on another mechanism to be replaced. This is the 3rd time our slide has failed. 11 months ago the entire mechanism was replaced. Jayco knows there is a problem because they changed the hardware to the slim rack system. We literally pray everytime we use the slide.

We pray too! I strive to trust God in each area of our lives. Thanks to Jayco, slideouts are no exception.

Jayco got back to me and said it is nothing to worry about and that the rails are designed to flex like that.

That was the first thing that went out on my 2017 Pinnacle. We full time in ours, turned out the slide motor locked up on the maiden voyage. Really simple fix but the dealership made it harder than it really was. I could go on and on about that. My tracks are a little off with the clearance also but it works fine now. I have slid it in and out 100 times to try and fail it but its still working. Fingers crossed.

My unit with schwintec is up at service center. They told me they have not repaired one yet and that they could not remove my big slide schwintec and install a slim rack. Said different size box and design. No more schwintec on big slides. So us schwintec people need to keep praying every use.

Yep..I talked to my dealer about those. He said there is more flex in the new system which will equal less problems.
Doesn’t make me feel good knowing mine is destined to fail some day.

At least it is a sure bet that it will happen. My odds would be great betting on that

On my 16 Eagle those tracks sit flush on the slide wall.Non the less Lippert has a good utube on how to lubricate the slide motors. My slides definitely work better after lubrication. Thanks
