Auto level lifts tires off ground

Looking for some feedback. We have a 2019 321RSTS and last week was our maiden trip. We were on an improved site (cement pad) that was not level side to side. When the auto level was finished and level, both right side tires were about 1” off the ground.
Questions, is this within “norm” and is it ok to have the tires lifted off the ground? The trailer was level just concerned about the components.
Thanks in advance.

Perfectly fine. Mine has been 6 or more inches off the ground. For it to level, it has to raise the low side. The more off level the more it raises. You can't level and not expect the wheels to always stay on the ground.

Sorry, pet peeve of mine. You were on a concrete pad. Cement is the binding agent in concrete.

If we're mentioning pet peeves... It's not a hot water heater! It's a water heater.

If the water is hot why do I need a heater.

I personally don't like my tires off the ground. I use a level on the pin box and put boards under my tires to make level before using the auto level.

If I needed to level before leveling I wouldn't bother nor spent the money for the auto leveling option. lol

I agree! I don't carry any boards at all. Only on a very few occasions have I used those yellow lego things, but only under the jacks if one side is way off from the other. Don't believe in making more work than need be

This may not be the case in this example, but sometimes the tire will lift IF the nose of the 5th wheel is too high at the start. I always lower the nose to level before using the auto level. The auto level on my 291rsts seems to have an issue if I leave it high from unhitching.

How many notches (holes) do you drop your landing gears?

Watch out fellas, I got called names for mentioning the same thing a couple weeks ago. Seems some people are highly offended if you try to change their ritual by injecting common sense...

That seems like a lot and is probably part of the issue. I believe I usually only do six or seven.

Thanks for the info. The front is high from unhitching. Will lower it prior and see what happens. Do you if this effects the hitch memory feature?

I normally drop my gear about 6 notches.

I don’t use the hitch height memory. It’s either don’t use the memory or have the tires off the ground. I’ve read that others have the same issue. I also have a walking stick that I cut 63” tall, which is the height I need to hitch up. Or I use a measure tape. Doesn’t take much time.

I had similar issues untill I figured out I needed to drop the legs to 8 holes on mine, now it may almost lift tires at times but more often not .I do use the Memory, I love the auto level system. I will say that first few times it took a little understanding of how it works .

After getting nervous the first few times finding our wheels off the ground, I started to ignore it BUT still tried to eliminate or minimize it. 1) We at least try to "improve" on the left right leveling with some blocks if the site is slanted quite a bit. 2) We found a major culprit was the front legs running out of "down travel", during the auto-leveling process, and the rear jacks then having to over extend raising the entire trailer. After initially using holes holding the pads pretty close to the ground, we now start them about 4 to 5 finger widths above ground before we unhitch. It's still a work in progress however and am glad others think it's not the end of the world to have tires up and spinning.

What is the fear with the tires in the air? Jack is designed to you know... lift things in the air. Myself I found the trailer more stable the less weight is on the suspension and firms up the feel inside.
