I can leave the valve on and draw down the auxiliary tank without any leaks in the fuel system or open the valve after my main tank is low. I was really surprised there were no leaks. (If open and main tank is full, don't open the main tank cap!)

My set up is an ATI Aux46 diesel tank and a weather guard tool chest. I have room for a roll up cover to hide everything. Also have a 18K B&W Patriot Hitch with plenty of room to operate.

I ordered the ATI tank from Tank & Barrel online and picked up the tank in person at ATI's facility in Winter Haven Fl which is close by. I have a total capacity of 83 gallons now which keeps away from the pumps for up to two weeks with my normal running around. Should be able to travel with the fifth wheel and fill up once a day without alot of hassle. Looking forward to the first trip.

Hey Fixentwo

You should think about adding a solenoid switch to that tank. Then you can hook it up to one of your upfitter switches. No need to get out to turn the valve on or off. Plus, it automatically shuts when you turn the key off.

I was going in that direction and got gun shy on spending anymore toy money. What kind of valve did you put in yours? It would still be real easy to cut in a valve.

That would be nice, rest area washrooms are way better than gas station ones. I don't have enough payload capacity left in my F150 to put in a tank though. Next truck, F350.

The best rest room is the one in our fifth wheel. As long as we keep a minimum of fresh water we just stop anywhere and use our own bathroom. The travel trekker 50 bumps us to 86 gallons total on the truck. We can pretty much fill up once a day when we’ve stopped and dropped the trailer.

Aaarrrgggh! I wish you would change the topic. I lust for one of the 55 gallon Titan tanks. They went on sale around Christmas and I was sorely tempted but talked myself out of it. And now you guys start it up again.

When will it end, when will it end?

I thought very seriously about replacing the OEM fuel tank with a Titan tank too. I decided against it because the OEM (for my TV) is 37 gallons and the Titan was 50 gallons for about $1,200. So I only gained 13 gallons. However, if I went with a 50 gallon aux tank I gained 50 gallons (for a total of 87 gallons) for half the cost @ $600. It takes up about 6-8 inches of bed space up against my cab and fits under my tonneau cover....so that was my reasoning that I had for my purchase.

That’s one of the things I like best about the travel trekker 50 and my curt 20k hitch. They both fit under my soft tonneau cover.

For those with the Titan Trekker tanks, whats your solution for the small filler hole and the large truck stop nozzles. My only complaint is that i can't fill it at the truck pumps, wont fit.

I know it’s not a solution but because I’ve got 86 gallons of range I can always make sure I’ve already dropped the 5th wheel and I’m filling up at an auto diesel pump instead of the big truck pumps.

On my previous truck, I had a 100 aux tank in the bed. (It was originally a work truck that I towed a work trailer with around the country.) I had a LCD gauge that read in percent. So percent in a 100 gal tank ended up reading actual gallons. I had an electric fuel pump that transfered to the main tank, in effect refueling the main 'on-the-fly'.

While I would like a greater fuel capacity in my new truck, I decided against it in favor of the bed space ahead of the 5th wheel hitch for a portable drinking water tank. I use it to transport water from the campground water station back to the camp site to refill the water tank in the camper.

I would not mind the extra range but decided being that much overweight was a big disadvantage. 50gal is 300lb more than what I have now and I am already at GVWR.

My solution to taking up bed space was to make the tank removable. I made a frame that the tank bolts to, and then that frame picks up on the front rail of the 5th wheel hitch and the forward most bed mounting bolts. I then used fuel QDs found on aircraft for the lines and the wiring i have a waterproof connector. I'll admit i don't know how easy it will be able to remove because there will always be some amount a fuel in it, but the ability to travel over 600-700 miles without stopping for fuel is great. My only complaint with the fuel tank is that the fuel opening on the tank doesn't accommodate the large nozzles at the truck stops.
Hi I'm shopping around for a transfer tank. Also would like to make it removable. I was wondering how it worked out for you and are you still happy with it thanks

ABSOLUTELY. Have a "L" shaped 100 gallon transfer tank with a JoBox on it. Newer trucks such as mine 2020 GMC will require at least a solenoid shutoff valve because if the computer senses a constant full tank it will shut the engine down. Besides, gravity feed is like super slow. I installed the required "T" fitting kit into the fuel neck (hose) to tank, fuel shutoff (12v) and a small fuel pump (12v) with 2 switches in the cab. Doesn't cost much. I do recommend spraying rubber coat on all connections for weather. With 90 gallons (leaving an airspace) and a 36 gallon main, I can go at minimum 1200 miles (9-10 miles to the gallon) and take advantage of the lowest price fuel stations across country. Saves you money over the run.

Small tank is easy, but a larger tank is somewhat heavy. They are all removeable but at what effort?
