Awning failure

Will try to post pics of my awning. Does anyone know why one arm will not extend? It's not sticking, just won't extend until I pull on it. Dealer replaced the strut but didn't help. Still won't come out without help. Any advice?

Is that arm binding up to the channel on the side, and leaving a scape mark? We don't have a power awning, but when our manual ones did that, the fabric shifted a little on the tube, and put the arms out of plumb.

No, it's not binding. It's like it's just balancing there and just a little pull it comes out like it's supposed to. So weird. Can't figure out why it's doing that. Dealer told me it's cuz there's only one motor on one arm, not both. Ok, so how are all the other awnings in the world coming out like they're supposed to?????

Has it always done this, or just started? What year is your rig? Wondering if the spring needs another wind on that side.
Also, maybe a little lube on the pivot points would be good.

Sounds like the pin for the spring may have come out? Or, Carefully remove it and get another turn on the awning tube to increase the tension.

It's a 2019, had it four months. Has done this since day one. And I too think it's the spring or the tension but I've gotta get the service tech to do understand this.

Our 2017 321rsts did that. Live fixed it. Lube all the Hinge points. Dry lube is best

Agree on the lubrication. When I went to pick mine up last year and checked it out before signing all the papers, I had noticed the same problem. All lubed up and it worked fine.

There is no spring to tension on the electric awning.

It's gravity and is balenced when closed. Mine needs some spray silicone when it does that and sometimes a tug to get it rolling. If you just keep opening it, mine will eventually let go and unroll on its own.

I did that the first time I opened it. I thought I ripped the awning off. Doesn't seem right to have to do that. But you're right, it's just balancing there waiting on a little tug. I'll lubricate and see what happens. Thanks.

Mine does the same thing occasionally. As others mentioned, a good lubrication helps it for some time before it starts to bind again.

X2.

When mine acts up, I clean the arms well, and wipe spray silicone on all parts that contact each other as it opens. The pivot points do not seam to be the issue. With age, mine seems to have less issues.

I didn't know there are no springs in the power awnings. I learn something every day here!

Nope, no springs in a power awning. Nor can I see how having only one motor could cause this problem. The motor turns the tube you see running between the arms which winds the awning up to close it or unwinds it to let it out. When we picked out 32N up from the dealer, he told me that the gas struts were bad and replacements were already on order. Even with the new struts, I have to give it a push every once in a while to get it going out. No big deal.

Time to take it back to the stealer, at only four months old they should jump through fire lit hoops for you, unless it's CW.

We have a 2017 Jayfeather 23rlsw that has done that since new. Where do you lube it?

I have a 2017 and mine did the same thing. I also noticed that when the awning was going out or coming in, it wobbled. My service tech told me it was because of the small screws that hold the end caps on and ultimately are part of the motor mechanism get wallowed out. He took out the screws and put in pop rivets instead. It has worked perfect since then......
