Awning Rail Pulling Away

Looks like the awning rail on our 2017 Eagle 28.5 RSTS has pulled up and away a bit about 3ft along the length of the rail. Anyone else ever have this problem? Some of the fixes I have read says one awning manufacturer suggests using expandable Oscar Rivets to secure the rail to the sidewall.

I seen this last year on one of our customers campers. In our case, the factory missed the backer when installing the awning rail. Just by looking at awning rail, you could see it wasnt installed strait. It had an arch to it. The arch make the screws miss the backing plate. Then in a light wind, the tension pulled the screws out just like yours.

To fix it we pulled awning rail off. Marked location of backer. Reinstalled awning rail. Luckly the old holes were covered by rail.

I would take this back to your dealer. It can be quite a job.

So I am not the only one! I have a 2018 Eagle 293RKDS that did this at the front of the camper awning rail. It also pulled loose about 3 feet. What I found was most of the screws were still in place but the sealant was pulling loose on the bottom of the awning rail.

What I did was remove the screws from the 3 feet where the awning rail sealant was pulling loose from side of the camper. I then used a plastic scraper and removed the old sealant and used Quad OSI sealant. I also replaced a few of the screws that felt like they were little loose with the next larger size. That was 6 months ago and it is still holding.
I also noticed the factory did not seal the top of the rail. So I ran a bead of the Quad OSI along the entire length of the rail so water could not get to the screws. I also put sealant in the screw holes before I reinstalled the screws.
I think this is a bad design. The screws are at the top of the rail and the awning attaches at the bottom and the tension of the awning pulls the sealant loose. Need screws above and below.

I also had the same issue with my 2017 27.5 RLTS. Take it to a dealer, if it's still under warranty.

Ours pulled away on the front side, and there were only 2 screws (but 4 holes) there when delivered to us. They added 2 more screws and more of that black, glue backing. I am not 100% sure it is totally fixed, but I have another 2 months left on warranty so I will watch it.
