b & w hitch

getting ready to buy a fifth wheel and had the b & w turn over system installed. Now I need the hitch to put in my truck and was going to buy the b & w 3500 non slider and etrailer said it won't work with a 6.5 bed but I see a lot of people without slider hitches. Now I don't know what to do and I don't want to spend that much for a slider if I don't need to. Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Whitt

I have the B&W that fits the factory pucks in my '13 F350 short bed. Our 5th cap will contact the cab, I have a new rear window to prove it too.
That said, to do over I'd think seriously about a slider but the B&W is excellent and made in the USA. I discovered my mistake while making a U-turn. At full lock we make contact which costs my insurance about $500, so far only once.
I'm now careful when backing ou making U-turns, with the lovely bride to spot for me, I've had no further problems.
Moral of my story is if you are careful you'll probably be OK, probably.

I assume you have a Chevy or dodge since you call it a 3500. On them, the 5th wheel pucks or rail location is just about centered over the axle vs. the Ford that is 4 or 5 inches forward of axle centerline. Basically you have to be a bit more careful with a ford. That being said, I have a non slider in my F350 short bed.

B & w 3500

3500 b & w hitch, truck is a 2500 HD Gmc crewcab short-bed. I'm going to give the non-slider a try. Thanks for your input.
