Baby Boomers
Just wondering how many of us Baby Boomers are out there rving and seeing our great country. We have been camping for over 28 years and have seen most of the country(still have places to go). Gone from a tent when the kids were small, then a pop-up, then a Trailmanor, then a Cruiser fifth wheel, now waiting on my new Jayco fifth wheel to arrive. Guess this will be my last one.(sad) Loving retirement.
Happy Camping

Hey Coop, Charlotte here as well. We are baby boomers and love traveling in our Jay Feather.

Baby boomer also. Looking forward to retirement in a couple of years but bought the FW we wanted so we can get a jump start on traveling.

Also a baby boomer. I still have way too many years to work. We camp every weekend from mid March until mid November or when the temps in Wisconsin stay below 34* during the day.

If its not a holiday week or during popular vacation season, M-Thur most of your neighbors will be BBers. A few of Norty's generation too but the younger crowd is either working or vegging while they wait for the next benefit check.
Have met dozens and dozens of couples mid 50's and older. We were fortunate and were able to retire at 57 some 13 years ago [still can't add those numbers and get the right answer]. Hang in there Norty maybe we'll bump in to each other.

Please have some respect for others on this forum, lest you risk reinforcing my opinion of your generation. My wife and I work our butt's off for everything we have. No benefit checks ever.
Based on age alone, there are far fewer Gen X’ers like me, let alone millennials on the government take. I’m fully aware that SS will be long exhausted by the time I retire- how’s that monthly check of yours?

There are a load of us Gen Xers who actually work AND camp 40-50 nights a year
Carry on

Agreed Norty
Campers are more like minded than not in my experience. This last summer at Glacier NP we were parked in a row with our Jayco, a Newell Coach, an RPod and one of those canned ham looking things. Everyone was great!

More boomers here.... been tent camping and backpacking all of my life but the RV thing really suits us now. Our youngest daughter and her boyfriend who are both Millennials, are very much avid tent campers and backpackers along with a number of their friends. I don't think they are anomalies by any means, but being in the outdoors was the environment she was raised in and clearly it stuck.....

Boomer here, but as others have said, during the week (especially close to big cities) you will find boomers are the predominate campers... weekends it's the younger folks.
Lets face it, boomers as they retire have the time, and in many cases the where with all to RV more.
It's all good..we enjoy the kids around on the weekends, and the peace and quiet during the week.

Maybe you missed the either at work or waiting for gov. check. That pretty much covers both camps. My Mtly check is basically a discounted refund that I paid in every payday during a 45 year working life. My father paid in from the very first month that SS was started and died a couple decades later with a total payout from SS of $255 death benefit since he was only 62. Would gladly have been able to invest the same amount paid into SS all my life and I would have 10X as much now.

agree!! Totally to be expected that BBers dominate the CG's during the week after school gets back in session. We quickly learned to leave home on Mondays and travel during the middle of the week. I pity those who sit at home after a long working life or during the working years for that matter.

We've camped all 48 years of our married life - you can see the list of our accommodations below. We both retired at 65. When we were raising our four children, we camped mostly locally in the mountains. Now we have the opportunity to spread our wings. As we travel around our beautiful country, we're so grateful that we now have the opportunity to see it all. We still love mountain camping and camping with our children, who all thoroughly enjoy their own camping experiences with their families. By the way, our children (41, 39, 37 and 33) are a hard-working group of people.

Last year Baby boomer.. we have 10 year old twins.. and tent camp, hike, and now the DW doesn't want to have to hoof stuff in and out of the TV every night so we upgraded to the TT.. We still have camping gear and will still tent it every so often.. Tenters are different than TT'res and even more different than those that drive the big busses ;o)
not too bad of a hijack but where did you stay in Glacier we are headed there this summer... and I dread logging in at 12am for 2 weeks straight to get a campsite... I am not the type to "take my chances" on a site on the walk in parks.. West end for 1 week east for 1 week...
