Batteries

We picked up a used 2012 Jayco 321 RLTS this past May. It has two 12 volt deep cycle marine batteries in it. i think they are going bad. Have no idea how old they are.

Any recommendations for replacements?

2 6v Trojan T-105's but you would need to series them together. The 2 12 volts are paralleled. If you want to spend lots of money you can buy better but the trojan's won't break the bank.

Marine "deep cycle" batteries are not a true deep cycle.
They are rated at cold cranking amps, which is worthless for a battery that has ZERO need for...….in an RV "house" setup.

Trojans are "top of the line" according to most, but for that, you will pay a premium for it......that "premium" can range from $20 bucks to $50 bucks each.

For a less expensive option, look into US Battery. A made in the USA battery with the same amp hour capacity as a Trojan.....

I seen 6v 105A Dracells at Sams club this morning for $89.00 but I've never used any of these.

Just looked at Trojans T-105's online and was surprised at the cost. The company I use to work for I paid $42.00 ea and resold them for $55.00 ea. Then after I thought about it that was 14 years ago.

Question:

What type of camping do you plan on doing?
Electrical hookups at campgrounds?
Dry-Camping (no electric/water)?
Overnight stays in Walmart parking lots?
Long weekends without hook-ups?

Before you sink a lot of money into batteries, you need to answer the above questions.

If you plan on staying at full-service camp grounds, all you need is (1) regular Interstate 85Ah battery, which are standard on most TT's and are inexpensive. If you plan on staying at a Walmart parking overnight between stops, that same battery should do the trick (but not in winter when using the TT heat). If you are planning long weekends without hookups, then you need to look into 2 batteries that will give you the most Ah's for your $$$. This is where (2) 6 volt batteries work the best.
