Battery Replacement 2021 Pinnacle

Has anybody replaced their original battery (mine came with and Interstate Marine RV Deep Cycle) with an AGM or lithium Battery? Any tips or changes necessary in the solar charging system?

If you camp without electricity or have a 12 volt fridge to keep running while traveling lithium battery is a great replacement that should last many years with no maintenance vs. the cheap lead battery needing water and winter care.

Lots of posts on this and many youtubes to research. Costs more short term but carefree, lightweight, very long lasting are huge positive points in lithium batteries.

No....I have used 1-2 88 amp-hour deep cycle lead acid batteries for over 20 years on 4 fifth wheel trailer without an issue AND very cost effective.

I have installed (3) 200 AH lithium batteries. They work great. Lithium battery specs vary by manufacturer. The batteries I am using can be discharged to 100% of capacity (versus 50% lead acid). Can be recharged at 150 amps each.

Over the summer dry camped at Grand Canyon for a week. Would not have been possible without lithium batteries.

The downside, a lithium upgrade can be expensive. Probably $1,000-$10,000. Depending on capacity, solar, inverter, generator, manufacturer, and other options.

If you decide to upgrade. Plan out the upgrade. So you are only upgrading the individual components once.

I changed my 21 over to lithium. Super easy, change out the battery and flip the little dip switch on the front of the converter to LI for the lithium charging profile. I also changed the battery type on the solar control panel that came factory installed on my Pinnacle.

I have a 2022 Pinnacle and didn't see a switch on the Inverter? Did I miss it? or do you have a different inverter?

If we have the same converter, You have to look really closely or you’ll miss it. I mean it is tiny, but it is definitely on the front of it. I would take a picture, but we traded it off for a new Brinkley.

I have the Progressive Dynamics PD1618A in my Pinnacle 32RTLS. My complaint is putting lithiums in did not help because the PD1618A shuts off at 10.8V like lead acid. So I don't get the ability to take them to almost zero.

If this is what you had I have to find the switch!!!

Mine was also progressive dynamics converter. I don’t recall the model number. Yours being a year newer than mine definitely should have it and I mean it is a tiny little switch that you have to use like the tip of a pencil to change it. That’s how small it is.

On mine, the converter was located by the entry steps. It’s the front of the main fuse panel so I don’t think you need to crawl in any place unless they located it differently on your model.

Again… he said CONVERTER.
A PD1618 is an inverter
Your switch will be on the converter

Yes, if you go with AGM or Li you need to change the settings in the Solar controller also.
