Bearing grease

Hi all, I have a 2017 Jayco NorthPoint 377RLBH, about how often (after how many miles) should I be greasing the bearings? And does this model come with the ez lube axles?

Thanks!

My 29RKS has about 9000 towing miles and I'm about to grease the bearings. I have the eazy lube axles (Check your owners manual or look at your hubs for a grease fitting). Also will be adjusting the brakes. Heads up - I got Valvoline synthetic NLGI2 and Lithium Complex grease, recommended by Dexter, from NAPA, 5 bucks per 14oz cartridge.

Once a year is what I do on my 377. (Might be overkill)

Check the dexter website for grease compatibility. Don’t mix grease types

After I got rid of the drum brakes, I used Red n tacky grease. ...and yes you should have ez lube axles but be sure to grease them with a hand pump according to the directions to avoid blowing out the seals.

I do my 377 every other year. I don’t think I put on enough miles to do them every year like Tom.

You should grease your axle bearings about every 10k miles. Call Jayco Inc. give them your last eight of your VIN and they can answer any questions you need to know about your unit.

My 2017 375 has Lippert axles on it. I wish it had Dexter's. The Lipperts seem to be ok so far. Those bearings wont have alot of grease in them from the factory. After the first year, I pulled mine all apart, cleaned all the grease out of them and hand packed the bearings with AmsOil brand grease that I use on everything, installed everything and spin the wheels while hand pumping grease into the EZ lube grease fitting on the end of the axle until its filled up and coming back out at me. Like MagnoliaTom, I do mine every year. May be overkill but grease is way cheaper than a breakdown on the side of the highway.

Be careful when you're wiping the excess grease from the cap prior to replacing the rubber plug. I've cut my finger on the sharp edge.

I have my bearings repacked yearly as dealer only charges $180 for both axles. We do about 10k miles a year and it seems like cheap insurance. I also keep an extra set of bearings and seals in case I need to complete a road side repair.

Thanks for all the replies. I have about 6500 miles on. Going to take the wheels off and inspect brakes and repack while I’m in there ..after I figure out how to jack this beast up. lol

I was actually at a site last week that was so unleveled side to side that the 6 point leveling system lifted the right side wheels off the ground. Should’ve thrown some jack stands underneath and taken the wheels off right there.

Put the controller in manual and lift the one side off the ground. I changed my tires like that.

I would choose the manual method of packing your bearings.
If you blow grease out your seals you won’t have brakes.
Plenty of us on here had greasy brakes from the factory and had all brakes replaced under warranty.

Same here. Started doing that on the trek to Alaska from Florida (10,000 miles RT). In remote areas and long distances over crappy roads which abused the running gear, I wanted some assurance that I wasn't stranded by crushed or dry bearings.

Thanks klassic. How do you lift one side with the LCI 3.0 system? I switched into manual then hit ‘right’ to lift the right side but only the front and rear jacks came down, middle stayed put. I can’t figure out how to get the middle to come down on one side only in manual mode.

Thanks,

Middle Jack’s are only stabilizer Jacks. They only work manually when an error condition is introduced.

Thank you! Just want to be sure I’m ok lifting one side of the camper to get a wheel off using just the front and rear jacks.

Ended up using the LCI to assist a bit the finished off with a 12 ton bottle jack, which lifted it pretty easily.

Question - do these look ok? 2 1/2 year old Goodyears have 6500 miles on them. I’ll put another 2000 on by end of July.

As far as tread depth, they look good to me. In the picture you can see a wear bar in the groove of they tread in front of the penny. When the tread and the wear bar are flush, it’s time to replace

Also, if the top of Lincoln's hair shows, it's time to replace.

Sorry Rolling Fortress, I missed the rest of this thread. I don’t always get notifications on subscribed threads for some reason

Manual mode.. then lower the rear jacks, them press the right or left button of the side you want to lift.
It’s been a while since I did it, but pretty sure that is what I did.
