Bed Frame - How Solid

I have a 28.5RSTS. I plan to hang shoe pockets around the queen bed support for out of the way storage. Does anyone know if the top of the bed support is solid "wood"? I would like to attach with small screws but don't know if there is anything solid behind the veneer. Photo attached. Looks like the frame is 1 1/8 wide on the top and about half that on the sides.

The bed frame is not completely solid, it is just an 1 1/2" to 2" frame with vertical supports and covered with the paneling. If you attach your shoe pockets right under the trim you will be able to mount it. I would recommend using a washer and 3/4" wood screws, that should hold it providing the shoes aren't too heavy and maybe add a few additional screws depending on how far apart the gromments are. :-)

Enough Wood to Get the Job Done

Thanks for the info maejoicer. The shoe bags installed with out a hitch. Grommets were a perfect for the provided screws. The only outlier is a pair of hiking shoes for now.
