Bent axel

Jayco eagle 5th wheel. Came with 4400# axels the back one is bent (almost straight). It came with lippert axels. I’m about to order 2 dexter 5200# just want to get anyone’s opinion on if it’s worthwhile. Cost wise it’s roughly $100 more total for both. Jayco didn’t leave but few hundred pounds of weight room.

In my opinion it will be money well spent.

I think it is a wise investment. I plan on upgrading my 3500 pound axles for the same reason. Weights are too close for my liking with my current setup.

With all the bent axels posted here. I am surprised that if a large group complained to Dexter or Lipert, something should be done. I would gladly pay for heavier axels then to have the originals bend because they are designed to JUST BARELY support the weight of the trailers!

I think the vote is in. $200 is a lot of money, but you will not have to do this a second time. Take a look at your springs too. They are probably only rated to 4400 lbs too.

VaCamper, if your going to keep the rig for awhile, you may consider going Wet Bolt while you are under there! Just saying.... Happy Camping, SKIDAWG

I would definitely spend the extra $100.00 for the Dexter axles. You will be glad you did!

It wasn’t much to get the dexter complete assembly axel hun electric brakes springs etc total for both was $65 more. I would spend that on brakes so got complete axel.

Something I didn’t even think about. I just ordered the new axles. Right now there is a Mor/ryde 3000 could I use this with wet bolt kit? And I know there is a ton of post out there but since you mentioned it, what are the pros to adding this? Is it easy to do as well? Thank you for your time

VaCamper, yes you can use that with the Wet Bolt system. My first RV had the Mor/Ryde 3000 and I requested it be wet bolt. My last one and this new one had/has the 4000 system with wet bolt. I highly recommend installing the wet bolt and it is easy to do. SKIDAWG

I'm glad I read the comments- I thought Wet Bolt was what you do when you're in the shower and your girlfriend's husband comes home.

One of my axles bent. Lippert could not understand why since I had CAT scale weight receipts. They offered to replace it even though warranty was over with a new 3500 axle
. When I asked what it would cost to upgrade to a 4500 lb. they told me. I was shocked when CS said that if I wanted to upgrade the springs and axles to 4500, they would replace the 3500 with the 4500 for free. Now that is superior customer service. I upgraded by axles and springs from 3500 to 4500. Haven't regretted it.
