Best/safest way to mount a Honda 5000 generator

I am asking this for my hubs...we have a Honda 5000 (heavy beast, but able to run our home or our RV) that we would rather keep, so was wondering if anyone has any input on how to travel with it. Should we try to mount it in the front compartment of the 5ver or mount it in the truck bed? Would barely have any clearance in the compartment, but was told that it would be ok still. How much air space needs to be around it. Best way to mount in bed? Only place to mount is right up against the front of the bed by the cab. How to exhaust if we do that. HeLp please.

Is that generator on wheels? I carry our Honda EU6500is in the basement of the fifth wheel, and then unload it and lock it to the back bumper of the fifth wheel when I reach my destination.

If you have a frame mounted receiver on the rear of the 5er you can install a rack that will hold the generator. I believe the receiver will hold 300 lbs so you should be fine. I have a rack with folding sides ( from northern tool) that I use to carry my firewood. I like to keep the bed clear and empty if possible when traveling.
Looks like you're really close to the rear axel weight limit of your truck anyway.
If you opt for the rack just make sure to stabilize it in the receiver to eliminate wobble.

In all the motorhomes we've had, the in place generator is mounted in a space that would have been another storage compartment but has no bottom.
From installation, to in service for air intake and exhaust purposes, most generators are going to need plenty of "breathing room".
That said, cutting a hole or the bottom from a storage area, welding in a sturdy frame of angle iron or something else that works for mounting purposes, would be my ideal solution to having the generator tucked away and always available.
