Big Bed
My TT has a full size queen. It came the premier bedding. I also purchased the memory foam topper from Campers World and I just can't find anything that suits me for any length of time.
Can someone please tell me if a regular queen mattress will fit in place of the rv mattress. Is there any difference other than maybe weight?
My biggest problem is that I am a full timer and I don't think the rv mattress is made for everyday use.
Thanks

Both of my queen size mattresses at home measure 60" wide by 80" long.

What is your floor plan?
Luckily, most RV mattresses are just shorter, and most bedroom spaces can accommodate the extra length of a residential mattress with little or no modification. For example, our RV mattress is 74". A residential queen is 80". I could fit the longer mattress in our space, but then I wouldn't be able to walk around it to get to "my" side.

I'll have to check the length tonight. I could not accommodate a longer mattress because my slide when it is in butts up against the dresser drawers.

Well I was told that if you want your bed to be longer in length instead of buying a bed that is longer. Pull your mattress from the feet area and buy a piece of foam to fill the gap at the head of the bed. This is probably something I will do because it will be cheaper and my feet hang off the bed considerably. (I'm 6'6) Ha

I too am 6' 6" and am fulltiming in my 25RKS. What I do is just slide the mattress down toward my feet about 4" every night before bed, then slide it back in the morning. Don't have room at the foot to keep it out. For me I don't need anything in the gap at the head as my pillow covers it OK. I am not sure if it makes a difference or not but I have a flattened cardboard wardrobe box under the mattress to get it out of the way. That may make it easier to slide.
I also recently added memory foam toppers (got 2 of the 1" for less than the 2" price) and that does make things better.

You mentioned that there wouldn't be enough room to have a longer mattress with the slide in. Could you just lift up the foot of the mattress and let it ride on top of that little wardrobe? Or you could leave the bed in the "up" position while traveling and that might give you a little extra space?
I don't see what you see, I'm just looking at pictures, but I thought I'd throw that out as an idea...

If it is just comfort....then get a quality mattress memory foam topper that is about 3 inches thick, I have purchased one for my trailer that I have used in a queen bed that I slept on for two years and it made all the difference in the world, so I'm sure it will in the trailer once I start using it!

When you bought the topper was it for an RV queen or standard queen? My mattress is 60 x 80 which is a standard mattress size. Mine is on a slide and does go right up against a dresser when closed. You could probably get away with the increased weight depending on material or consider a Sleep number.
If you have under bed storage you might need to brace the lift system with added weight.

Back in the TT and I cant seem to locate a tape measure but i know i ordered the short queen mattress topper and it was to short. I had to return it and get a regular queen. I suppose that would be a regular home queen?

Both of my Jayco 5th wheels came with a standard 60x80 mattress. I bought a good Sealey a number of years ago and this is my 3rd camper that I've used it in. The Cougar TT that I had before the 2 Jaycos had a 60x76 queen bed and the longer mattress was not well supported at the foot end so I had to replace the hinged board under it with a longer one. That sounds like probably the best solution to your problem - you'll just have to remember to raise the foot of the bed to clear the dresser before sliding it in.

Raising the bed is a good idea for travel.
Thanks

We also had the regular normal standard mattress. It comfy enough but we added a foam mattress purchased from Walmart for an insane amount of money but boy, I get the best sleep in that bed! LOVE IT
