Binding front jacks

I noticed the front jacks of my GroundControl3.0 being a little labouring lately.
They have also errored with “out of stroke” (I wasn’t out of stroke, so it was a high amp load error) and RF... stopping for no reason (just shut down no error)

I played around with the right one a bit..cranking it manually with a ratchet. It would move through the stroke, but felt a little bit grabby in some spots.
Called Lippert, they were no help. Took it to the dealer and he figured I had a bent inner leg. He has never seen a jack jam up before unless it’s bent. Sprayed some silicone on it and it felt a little better.
He said my extended warranty won’t cover that. Jokingly said come back if the leg falls right out...then it will be covered.

I took it home...lifted it off the truck. Then I lifted it higher because I was still working on my battery sliding tray (Another thread)
While I’m lifting it...BANG!! The rig flys off to the right (in a lame attempt at falling over)

The jack popped something inside...the inner leg came out and I get extended warranty.
But still

I knew something was wrong with that leg, and trying to find a cure for weeks looking at it. Magnolia Tom told me to buy a new jack, just two days ago, and be done with it.
Glad it happened in my driveway, could have ended up worse..like being on some sloppy sloping camp site in nowhere’s ville, standing there scratching my head while it balanced on one leg.

Sorry for the long read.... but the moral is YES, they do break.

Here’s a picture of it apart, if anyone wondered what’s in there.

Exact same thing that happened to me but I was at a campground trying to set up. Scare the daylights out of me as I thought the trailer was going to tip over. You’ll be surprised how well you system works after you get a new jack.

I bought the extended warranty for the Schwintek, the leveling system and the residential fridge.
All I have left is the fridge now. Just a matter of time.
I’m glad I spent the $1975
This should take me to about $3500 used now.

The service manager said he’s seen 2 older model of jacks broken in his years.
This small forum has 2 NorthPoints, the same year, with the same side broken jacks within the same year lol.

Hey Tom...just wondering if you have a link for the leg? I’m thinking I might want to get one and keep it in the rig...my LF was blinking on my 3.0 screen, but it leveled on our last outing. Then when I went to auto reconnect, the LF leg wouldn’t move. I hit retract all and then I could raise both front legs. Just thinking I might want to grab one to keep on hand!

Is there anyway to do any kind of maintenance or lubrication on these things.

Not unless you can drill and tap a hole to insert a zerk fitting.

No wonder it breaks, it's made by Lippert LOL. Makes me happy that all structural components on my camper are Dexter.

The worst that could happen when that happens is a bent or twisted frame from falling on one side. After you have it fixed, get perfectly level and then put a level on the top of your pin box. That will indicate if you twisted the frame at all. I've seen it happen.

I tried this ( the tube up from the bottom ) my top gears had enough grease on them, just trying to stay ahead of the game

I have thought about drilling a hole and keeping it sprayed with something like CRC.
Any idea on a good location for a small hole?

There is no where for a zerk fitting to go. The outer tube is the “outer” tube...no grease will go anywhere but all over the inner tube.
See my picture. You would want the grease on the threaded rod. Only way to get it there is like shown in the video that has been posted. There’s nothing to look at by taking off the motor either. Nothing under there but a coupling.
The transmission is in the motor part..plenty of grease in there.

The only thing I think mine didn’t come with was the foot pad. But I got mine from my dealer so maybe they took it off for another trailer.
