Black tank valve

Does anybody else have issues with the black tank valve vibrating open when traveling? My 2016 383flfs North Point vibrates open just enough to let liquids out. Nice surprise the first time I opened the cap. My camper is currently at the dealer getting warranty issues worked on, and the answer the dealer gave me on that one was to travel with the cap off. Now i cant imagine being the poor soul on a motorcycle following that down the highway, or sitting stopped at a traffic light with the "drip" and law enforcement not taking notice. I did buy the twist on valve for the outside, just kinda disgusted with the answer the dealer gave and wonder if there is an adjustment on the pull cables that might help that.

No adjustment that I know of. I have the additional gate valve as well...which can give you an added benefit. If you close the added gate valve, you can leave open the two gray valves which gives you one large gray tank. Nice cuz the shower tank usually fills quicker than the kitchen tank but this way they go together.

I hadn't thought of the valve vibrating open while towing but you're probably right. I get a "cupful" of fluid when I take the travel cover cap off my BT drain valve. Not much way to avoid it but it would be better if it did not happen. Either the valve is vibrating open a little bit or the motion from travel is shaking it past the valve.

I just dealt with this. I'd always get fluid when I take the cap off since new. Only bt fluid of course. I had a total disaster at one dump station in NM after following garmin down a wash board dirt road. I dealt with it for a year with the Valterra valve on the end. Recently my dealer replaced the BT valve. All good now, not a drop of blue juice. I do keep the Valterra extra valve on there still, just in case.

This is the extra valve others are referring to.

Well worth it even if everything works correctly. I noticed the airstream next to me in storage has a factory installed similar valve. This should be a must have for any new trailer/RV with this setup.

Usually, like you guys said, it isn't a lot, but enough... lol. I was just kinda surprised to have this issue. I agree txloser, it should be standard equipment.

On my FBTS when I added the valve to stop the drip I did not like how far it stuck out. So I removed and just replaced the cap with one with the garden hose connector cap which I leave loose. Valves are not leaking but I always get a cup or two of gray from the last flush that lays in all the pipes.

Interesting. Did not think about ever doing this. I already have the extra gate installed from the factory since I have the sanicon system too. This could limit my trips with the blue tote while at sites without full hookups.
