I always kill the batteries with the red disconnect switch when I put the FW in storage.

I turn off the red disconnect in the storage bay. I also turn off power at the battery breaker in the battery bay.

Installed a Maxxair fan in the bathroom. I installed the one with the remote. One of the best upgrades I have done so far. Very quiet compared to stock fan. Moves more air. Easy for my wife to use...she could not reach the power switch on the stock fan. Easy to install...about two hours. Good video from Mark Polk on youtube to watch prior to install. Had to use original interior ceiling ring. The one provided in the box was too short. Had to cut the corner indents with a pair of good scissors.

That is the first thing that I replaced also. Junk stock fan that my wife could not reach is a joke.

Thanks for mentioning the video. That’ll make this easier. Is it a particular max air fan model that’ll fit, or is it one size fits all?

I was surprised my HT had a wall switch for the fan and this one does not. It was higher up though.

I have the Deluxe Maxxair fan also I install that remote on the wall where you can just get it and use it. I like on how you can bring in more air or you can take air out, and yes sir they are the same. Just look for the Deluxe Maxxair fan with remote.

Yep, the same one I have it's like night and day this is one of the best mod you can do or maybe getting a TPMS system.

Hey guys, I have a question for you the truck that I will be picking up this week have the gooseneck prep in it and the one that I have now is the B&W slider and I can't transfer it to my new truck. So I'm looking for the base B&W for the one I have now but here the question, can I get away with the non-slider and not get the slider? The non-slider in cheaper of course but I was wondering before I order can I get away with the non-slider, thanks guys for your help.

I’m running a non slider B&W patriot in its rear most position for almost two years now in my regular bed Chevy 6.5’. Hasn’t been a problem. In fact my HT trailer had less of a cut out. Here’s a photo of the new one. I had a little room to go. Further than I ever really have to crank it.

Wow, thank you for that pics I'm leaning toward more and more with the non-slider, the lady I talk to said she recommends the one with the slider but the one I have I have never use it but just trying it out. Thank you so much for that pics and looking at the pics I believe that it will be the most I will do.


Now do you have a pics of the hitch, how do you have the pivot legs turning?

Big1, I have a GMC with a 6.5 ft box. I put a Reese slider on it but have never had to use it. I can turn it to about 75 degrees the same as the last picture posted. My thought was to spend the few extra $$ to have it just in case I one day need it.

Thank you, I'm hoping that I wouldn't have to so I might just chance it I saw one on etrailer for $696.00 which is the cheapest I have found.


Also I went to the place that install 5th wheel hitch and he said that people have came back and told him that they haven't use the slider is five years.

I have the B&W companion non slider and have never had a problem. Before that I had a reese non slider hitch and never had a issue with it either. I think you will be fine with the non slider.

Yep, I have the same B&W non-slider hitch set-up to 2” inches behind the axle. Not sure what the clearances are on a Ram but I have had zero issues backing and turning with this setup.

So far so good on the shakedown trip. Learned a couple things right off....Turning on the fridge at the storage lot for the drive home is probably not the best idea. The trickle charge from the truck is not really enough to keep up with the fridge trying to go from hot to cool. Also, this thing is tall. I needed a step stool to adjust the awning I arms. So far everything is working as it should. Only thing I’ve not tried yet is the macerator.

One potential issue. The kitchen slide makes some high pitched squeals on its way out and in. Not sure if that’s normal or not. Seems like maybe it’s the wiper things.

The kitchen slide always gives me the creeps! Seems to extend easily but when retracting it really labors. I bought some 100% silicone lubricant that I'm going to apply to the rollers and see if that helps.

Get some silicone slide lubricant. Spray on a rag and Rub down the outside wiper then pull it out and wipe the inner wiper.
Also there are 4 bearing blocks, 2 front 2 rear. They are directly below the upper tracks and directly above the lower tracks. You can get at them from the outside. They are inboard of the two rubber wiper seals. Lube them with a silicone dry lube using an airasol can with extension tube. Kink the end down.
On the dinette slide do the rubber wipers the same. Same for bedroom but that is off a ladder.
Dinnette slide use a good dry lube and spray down the u-tubes under it.
Mine got rust in it and sand grit. Squealed metal on metal badly. Two cans of dry lube and had to do it from under trailer to finally take the squeal out. Basically I washed the rust and grit out. Just inside the frame on both tubes are gear rollers. You can squirt them thru the frame. I sealed up the frame around the tubes hoping to keep the grit out. They use sand and salt on roads during the winter and probably got it on delivery to our dealer.
Also take a tube of silicone and seal between floor and top of ibeam frame at the tandems. Then gorilla tape the seam. Water sprays up on polytarp over I-beam and down on top side of coroplast water will puddle on it and wick into the insulation batts under fresh water tank and rear kitchen gray tank. It does not dry out on its own.
I sealed up the whole underbelly from front to back hoping to keep water out. I also added more insulation as I had the coroplast down. Not a fun job.
