Cab clearance for 28.5rsts and andersen hitch
Hello
I am new here have just purchased a 2021 RSTS. I am using the Andersen which I have had for a precious fiver. BTW what does the TS stand for in the RSTS?
Two questions:
1. Whats the deal with the search function, every time I put in 28.5 RSTS its says NO Matches?
2. I have the andersen mounted in a 6'7" box F250 as per instructions on a BW ball. The coupler is turned forward to the truck, in front of the KP.
So for this setup what do you measure between front of the fiver at the protrusion of the round cap, to the back of the truck cab?
Thanks

Triple Slide
I have a 26.5 RLDS on a SRW F350 6.75', with an Andersen. If your red block is forward, and your hitch is to the back, I don't think you will ever have an issue. I never have.

I guess, I forgot to answer #1.....
Forum searches are notoriously bad. On here, I think you would need to search for 28.5rsts, all as one word. A better way is to google using the site URL. Try googling this entire string:
site: www.jaycoowners.com 28.5 rsts
or use this link:

First of all, we must settle this question-
Is the Andersen hitch the worst design since the Yugo, OR- the wonder hitch that makes sliced bread obsolete?

All of a sudden this has become an Andersen bashing thread.
Please, my original question re cab clearance issues would have invited responses from those with the Andersen Ultimate hitch in use towing their fivers.
And the box on the truck should read 6"10""

Just remember - what ever you decide. You drink beer or soft drinks out of the same material the AUH is constructed of...

INSTALLATION MANUAL
For Part #3217, #3220 / #3220-TBX, and #3221 / #3221-TBX • 24,000 lbs GTWR - 4,500 lbs Tongue has all the information. I am unable to copy the whole manual and the pictures do help a lot. its free at the Andersen site. I tow with a 3500 Long bed so I have zero issues. My coupler is forward so it rides directly over the ball.

"My coupler is forward so it rides directly over the ball". My apologies as this statement is incorrect. The coupler is turned backwards so the king pin rides over the ball on the hitch. We did this mostly for clearance to the sides of the truck. The long bed negates any issue with turning and cab clearance.

TS usually refers to Triple Slides. We are completely satisfied with our Anderson Ultimate Hitch. Before I purchased my hitch, I downloaded the measurement info from Anderson and went thru the very through directions to determine how to set it up.
Anyone who does not like it is welcome to not purchase one. LOL

I always go by the old adage "If it ain't steel it ain't real." Just another reason I do not use a Ford truck.

Then I expect you never fly any planes made since... forever, all made of aluminum, and even worse now, of carbon composite material.
Raw material has nothing to do with capability. Everything is in the design.

Exactly. That's why I have an RV. I do not fly.

Yep. I run an aluminum plane with carbon composite material through some nasty bumps from time to time. Holds up just fine. Design design design.

I'm sure you "Plane' experts understand the rigorous inspections and maintenance required to keep those planes safe in the air. I'm just curious, do you put that much effort with your beer can hitch? I bet you never even thought about it. You should. Be safe.
