Camp Ground Amenities

Just arrived at USI RV Park in Wichita, KS, an extremely nice CG. Well when we pulled up to check in at the office I saw one of their advertised amenities..........a 24 hour storm shelter!! Ya think we may be in "tornado alley"

Nice. That has to make you feel just amazingly comfortable.

Like a parachute........better to have it and not need it rather than need it and not have it. I'm sure I'll sleep better at night

SWMBO and I were in Indiana in 2015. Spent a night in a county with tornado warnings. Called the office and asked what to do incase of a tornado. Person on other end, very nonchelant, says the restrooms are shelters.

Oh, boy! Wife, dog, me and 200 others (and their dogs) inside the brick $#!+house.

Funny, the person wasn't anymore concerned about tornados than we in the PNW are regrding earthquakes. Guess if it happens, it happens. No need to fret!

Better that, than a sign that just says "shelter", but with a radiation symbol!

In our park, the bathroom and laundry building is the go to shelter since it is the only cinder block and poured concrete building. At least if you are about to crap you pants with a twister on the way....

We do get them here, albeit not quite like KS. Be safe out there; it’s the season.

We were in Northern Ontario last summer when an Emergency Alert sounded on our phones with a tornado warning. We assessed the area and decided that a run for the comfort station/shower house would be our best bet.

Several TX State park structures (like bath houses and restrooms) are storm shelters. We've never been evacuated to them, but my in-laws have. The rangers came by banging on everyone's doors ushering them all to the bathrooms because there was a significant tornado nearby.

It doesn't take much for an RV to be ripped open like a can of anchovies. Better to have a place to evacuate to than not IMO!

ETA: One of our local banks has a "fallout" shelter. Radiation symbol and all. It's been recently remodeled, so I don't know if they retained that...
