The 52" fan I bought clears the slides by several inches. Enough that I don't even turn the fan off when bringing in the slides. It stays on as long as shore power is hooked up and is on as soon as the power is hooked up. That way I get a bit of circulating air inside when I'm setting up inside.

The old fan was heavier than I thought it would be (cheap), but the mount location was plenty strong for my new one. I replaced it a couple of years ago and it hasn't moved except for a lot more air.
