Clear curb w/Ground Control - Suggestions?

Hey All!

Relatively new FW owner here and I have a rookie question. We got our 2016 Eagle 339FLQS FW last year and now we're leveling out a space below our pool to store it at home.

Big issue I see is, we'll have to back it over a curb to park it now and the Ground Control 3.0 jacks definitely will not clear it.

Should I just raise the axle? Flip the axle? Set it on fire? I don't want to make the FW too much taller because I'll be building a cover for it as well.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Can you build or put a ramp over the curb to get the trailer over?

Not sure of any unintended consequences, but the jacks on my trailer look fairly simple to un-bolt...maybe un-bolt/zip tie them up to the frame? Or un-bolt and disconnect the electric, but with how touchy the system is, setting it on fire may be your next step if you unhook electric at the jacks.

Or turn curb into driveway entry ramp. You have to store ramps & flipping axles will only get 3 or 4 inchs
As to the rv shed, build it for a bigger rv, build for the next owner.

Sounds like time to store it somewhere else.

logie231, nothing a couple of 6 foot 2x10's and a few bricks can't handle. Your thinking way too in-depth for this simple problem. Just my .02. Skidwag

Easiest way is like Skidawg said - bricks and 2x10...works better than most people think.
If that's too much redneck fro you...curb mods are easy to make.

I would leave trailer mods as last resort...it's like a JEEP, once you start tinker with it...no end ...and no money...

P.S.: where is the pictures...? I want to see what are you up to...

x3 on the boards and bricks. When the landing gear approaches the curb, built up the ground under the tires (RV & Truck if needed) with the boards to get better clearance.

I saw a similar post last year about the 3.0 Ground Control being too low. The jacks have multiple holes for bolting to the frame. You may want to check to see if the jacks are mounted in the highest available position and if there is any room to unbolt and raise the jack to another position on the frame. If you are able to raise the jacks, you may need some leveling blocks to make up the distance when camping and actually using the jacks. The cheapest solution would be to get out your plastic stackable leveling pads and build up a simple ramp. How much extra elevation do you need to clear the curb? I can't imagine it is more than 3 or 4 inches.

I'm not familiar with your trailer but as an off the cuff suggestion how about a draw bar with a bigger drop to raise the back of the trailer just for this application? I'm guessing you don't really need the WDH for this.

It's a 5th wheel.

I agree with the others, use boards to make ramps to lift the trailer before the jacks get to the curb. If you need to turn it onto the curb you may need some fancy construction but easier than the alternatives.

I would drop the leaf springs to the bottom hole. That there will give you two more inches of clearance. This will help and I would down the road redo the curb to a slant. I did this very thing to my driveway and it helped in backing. I used a couple 2x4's to help getting over the curb until I redid the curb. Good luck in your endeavors.
