Does anyone know why they changed the color of the 2013 eagle premier fifth wheel after only one year with that color.Was brownish,tan now ivory for 2014..

They got it cheaper from manufacturer ???

Probably because the dark brown is ugly and very few liked it/bought it.

I know lots were complaining that the dark brown got really hot to the touch and warmed up the inside. Maybe they took that into consideration.

Maybe next year white will be back in.

For those of us that live in the South, the lighter the color the better in the hot summers when we get lots of sun.

I cannot imagine having a dark colored RV here in the South, my A/C units work hard enough.

Sometime in the future when we purchase another RV the exterior color will be a factor in making our choice.

I am in Florida, but the cap gets hot anywhere the sun hits it.
Here are some stats for those that have a dark front cap (2013 Eagle284BHS):
- Surface Temp exceeds 200 degrees
- Backside of cap (inside closets) 141 degrees
- Backside of cap (outside of closed closet doors) 112 degrees
And we wonder why the AC has to work so hard.
Contacted Jayco with the temperature readings and they said:
"We anticipated that there would be a little higher temperature on the front cap, you can always bring it in and you can have a 2nd AC unit installed." I asked how that is possible when we spend a lot of hours dry camping. Use fans.
The difference between the light color caps vs the dark color caps is almost 100 degrees WARMER.
I priced having the cap wrapped with a light color and that was over $700.
Now the top of the cap is totally oxidized (milky white color). Waxing does not help to keep it from osidizing. Taking it in to the dealer in the next few weeks.
NOT a happy camper about this issue.
