Connect two 50 amp cords

Anyone know if it is possible to connect two 25 foot shore power cords together? They both have the circle-locking "marine" like plug that plugs into the RV on one side, and a male plug on the other.

I typically carry a 50 foot cord, but have really enjoyed not having to mess with it when using a 25 foot lately. Hoping there is a way to connect two 25 foot cords in case I need to power the RV with the generator (which I keep at the front of the RV) and ditch the single 50 footer.

Change one end to a standard 50 amp receptacle, so the other can plug into it. I've not seen an adapter to join a standard plug to the round type receptacle.

If you don't already have the 2nd power cord, just buy a 50 amp RV extension cord. Camco has a 30 footer for around $115.00.

I'm assuming your power cable is a twist lock waterproof setup like the one in my link below.....

I'd buy a 30 or 50 amp (pending what your requirements are) conversion kit - this will give you both the male, and female ends.

this is just an example for pic purposes, but there are well cheaper options.

You'll also need a length of cable rated for your 30/50 amp service of need.

Mount the receptacle in a waterproof 6x6 box / cover from Lowe's. get a watertight connection for the cord to come out of the box and put the plug on the end of the cord. This gives you strictly an "extension" that is watertight and can lay on the ground. Use it when you need it, keep it put away when you don't.

Personally, I have never had a need for a 50a extension cord but I do use a 50a male to 30a amp adapter when I am at a 30a a site.

Before going this route, verify the campground will allow you to do it this way. Some mandate all connections be rain tight.

I know that our seasonal campground, from time to time, will have ponding water from torrential rains. Having a non rain tight 30 or 50 amp power connection is asking for, at best, having to go out and reset the breaker on the pole numerous times until you find a way to keep water out of the receptacle where the two cords connect.

My method, while not the cheapest, addresses the issue of water tight.
