Construction Debris in Toilet Down Pipe

Just finished our second trip with our 2012 Super Lite 30.5 RLS. Half way through our trip we found the toilet down pipe jambed with waste. I literally took a stick and rammed the stuff down, only to find construction debris to be the real problem. It was a piece of ceiling trim used between ceiling panels, about 1.5 inches wide and two feet long. I fished it out, and we had no more problems. Folks may want to take a peek down this pipe during Pre-Delivery Inspections. Wish I had. I have to say I wonder about the attitude of the worker responsible for this. Has to be somewhere between I-don't-care and deliberate trouble making, neither of which is good for the manufacturer. Jayco reps, are you reading this?

That is a nasty "trick". I hope you don't have any other surprises.

We took delivery of our 2012 Jayco 26rks in August. While going through the predelivery walkaround our service tech showed us the black tank t-handle and how it worked. When he opened it, out came a 6 inch strip of wall trim moulding. After that little suprise our tech then filled the black tank with fresh water and drained out the entire tank. A few other little items came out. I think Sophiesdad is right, they need a little more qc at the factory. Our tech said that piece of wood could have caused major problems depending where it could have lodged in the tank. What else is laying around in the hidden areas of our camper? Other than that we are enjoying our trailer so far.

It sounds like they have someone on the floor that is a trouble maker... every plant has at least one...

Good idea. They should be able to figure out who worked on the trailers with "junk" in them.

Let us know how Jayco responds to this issue. It would be interesting to know if they find the guilty party, and what is done about it.

On a previous designer I owned from new the toilet kept plugging up. We finally found the problem. At the factory, the drop pipe was installed down to 1 inch above the bottom of the tank. Not good times cleaning that mess out several times.

Here's some feedback from the Jayco service rep: "I will make sure this information gets out to the appropriate personnel on the production line."
