When the temp gauge reads say 450 deg. It's just the air and not the stone so it's best to Waite about 10-15 min so the stone reaches the correct temp. When cooking pizza I would suggest spreading some corn meal on the stone so the pizza doesn't stick.

I have a stone in my stove that I use to eliminate scorching, but have never used it to cook. I also have one at the house and I've never treated it. If you're using it to cook ON, don't use soap to clean it. Just hot water. They need to "season" to cook food properly. Kinda like an iron skillet. And never use non-stick spray on it.
