Cool Front Cap faux Neon lights

These really look cool, but they're not holding up very well. What is everyone doing about it? Modifications? Replacements?

Mine have shrunk and appear to be at risk of water intrusion. Need come up with a replacement or MacGyver them. Image is 90 degrees off.

Mine were like that from the get go. Dealer gave me a song and dance as to why they couldn't fix them.

Mine were still working except for the bottom 6 or so inches. Took them apart and the wires broke off the second I moved them. At one time both ends of the tubing were sealed with what looks like glue from a hot glue gun. The tubing shrunk exposing the top where water got in and couldn't escape. You can see the corrosion on the led strip.

Getting all the parts together and I'll post pics of my repair. I would like to leave the bottom un-sealed so it will drain. My only concern would be travelling in rainy weather, where water may be forced up the tube.

I went with blue. They are much brighter than the stock ones.

I deviated a little from the video. The factory wires felt sealed to the inside of the Cap, so I soldered the old wires directly to the Strip.

I used adhesive lined shrink tube on both ends and filled the ends with marine grade sealant. The shrink tube is rigid enough to hold the tube in place so I didn't need to drill more holes to move the chrome tips.
