Cordless Vacuums

Curious what you all use for a Cordless Vacuum in your coach. I bought a Dyson V7 last summer and noticed it didn't work well on carpet. Was in Home Depot yesterday and watched a demo on the Stark ION X40.. The demo sold me so i bought one for $195 ($100 off sale). Got her charged up and went to town cleaning my coach.. WOW,, the Shark picked up a hell of lot more than the Dyson, especially the carpet. Also the Dyson would use up its battery in one cleaning where the Shark had plenty left over. I give the Dyson V7 2 starts and Shark 4.5

I put the V6 in...it stinks.
Had to get the hard surface attachment and it’s so-so
Like you said it doesn’t do the carpet all that well and it will JUST make it before the battery dies.
Hard to clean it out too.
I agree with your rating.

Did your Dyson come with the appropriate attachments for your cleaning needs? We have a V8 that has the solid surface cleaner AND the carpet attachment. Our house is hardwood upstairs and carpet downstairs, the V8 works great for both floors. We are planning to bring it with us on longer trips where we want/need a vacuum.

The V7 was labeled to do both carpet and hard floors. I noticed when on carpet the brush would barley work. The V8 is suppose to be much better Vac but also at a premium. The Shark has buttons for hardwood floor or carpet. When i carpet mode the brush really goes to town and the suction is suction is as good or better than the Dyson. For the money, one can not go wrong with the Shark, even at the non sale price of $300. With my experience i highly recommend the Shark.. But we still need to see how it does in the long run

Got the Dyson V8 with all the attachments (hard floor and carpet plus like 4 others). It’s been an awesome vacuum for the camper.

Thanks for the heads up and review. We were going to buy the Dyson when I saw it at work (Sam's Club) since I had very low expectations of the built central vacuum in the Pinnacle. However on our recent first shakedown cruise, we were pleasantly surprised at the built-in. There is an outlet for the hose in the basement so it will reach the truck if we pull up nearby.

We will be moving in with 4 dogs and 4 cats so it's a hot topic for us. Luckily the only carpet we have is on the slides.

If we decide we need the hand-held after all, we'll take a close look at the Shark. Thanks again

Shark ION here. It does a fantastic job of cleaning both hardwood and carpet and we can usually get 2 cleanings on a charge. Ours came with an extra battery so we always have one fully charged. Dyson is supposed to be good, haven't purchased one because of the cost and in some cases, that I've read about, being able to get parts is difficult.
Happy Cleaning.

We still have the Dyson that came in our 2015 Pinnacle and we have the newer version for the house, never had an issue with either one. You just need to use the correct attachments for the type of flooring you're using it on.
