Crack discovered while cleaning

So I found this while cleaning the bugs off the front of our new 2018 Eagle HT 28.5RSTS, while standing on top of the 8 foot step ladder. This was not a happy discovery; The rig has only been out on 2 camping trips, totaling less than 1000 miles. Anyone else have this type of hairline crack in their new rig? What sort of warranty repair do you think the dealer will do?

Ya gotta love the quality speed work coming out of the factory, huh?

Get some cleaner and some self leveling Di-Cor lap sealant and go to town.

Just use self leveling "Dicor" and be happy again.

Is there more than we can see in your pic? You mention hairline crack and I think the previous comments are on the shoddy caulking job.
OK, once I enlarged your pic I can see what looks like two vertical cracks running down from the caulk.
I'd definitely get that photo to Jayco and your dealer to get that fixed. Like windshield cracks, that will continue. My guess on fix, replacing entire front cap.
Once you get the warranty started, maybe you can caulk it and continue camping and get the repair done later.

#1 JAYCO does not make the caps they come from a 3rd party vendor.

#2 It could just be a crack in the gel coat.

#3 Take the pic to your dealer to get it on record and see what they say and go from there.

I feel my eyes are failing me in my age. lol

I didn't even see the vertical cracks in the pic - I did however see the horizontal sections of missing caulking - and that's what I gathered the post to be about. I'm glad we all work collectively as a group to help each other out.

X2 Grumpy, get the dealer involved. If the crack is deeper than the gel coat it can get longer, use your warranty.

As others have stated hopefully it's just a stress fracture of the gel coat and could possibly be sanded out and re gel coated. Get the pics to the dealer and Jayco and document everything. Good luck.

It also could be a misplaced screw under that load of caulk. It definitely needs the dealer to document and see what caused it.

My new front cap had some hairline cracks but were not near an edge. Jayco paid for a repair. I can still see hairline cracks but they are in the gelcoat, not the glass underneath.

After seeing rigs come into a dealer these kinds of things raise red flags for me.

That gob of sealant is probably hiding a place where either the cap/joint was damaged or was not done properly to begin with. The cracks might be a result of stresses involved in that 'fix'. I've seen dealers 'fixing' damage due to hitting things in transit. Never found out if the new owners were notified of the damage or not.

Or, it is just some stress cracks in the gel coat, which happens sometimes.

I agree that a trip to the dealer is the best route. At least get it documented so if you have problems later you will still be covered.
