Cracked Wheels

We were at a fuel stop and when doing my walk around I noticed one rim had 2 spikes cracked all the way through. I then looked at the other 3 wheels and one more had 3 cracks. I put the spare on the worst looking one. Limped it and hour down the road to the campsite. My dealer says it is not covered under the extended warranty. Needless to say I’m pretty upset since this is a HUGE safety issue. I just submitted a claim to the manufacturer HISPEC. We will see but regardless I’m getting 4 hrs wheels because I don’t trust the other 2. I went to a tire dealer and bought another spare rim to get me home. Anybody ever had an issue like this? This seems like a huge safety issue and if something bad were to happen it seems like they would be held legally responsible in my opinion.

File a report with the NHTSA...

Save the damaged rims for inspection. Inside there should be a sticker on the inside of the rim, stating it’s weight rating. Make sure they have the appropriate rating.
Nice catch, most people rarely check their lights much less their wheels and tires.

Update

I filed the complaint on the link. The next day(today) the NHTSA called me and asked several questions. About an hour later the manufacturer called me and are sending me 4 new wheels for free. My dealer said they would install the rims for me. FYI HiSpec wheels have a Lifetime Structural warranty on them. Thanks for the help guys!!

You might consider notifying Jayco Corporation also, they should have records showing what other units left the factory with those same rims. It sure looks like a very serious issue that could be deadly if a wheel came apart at highway speeds. Seems unlikely you would be the only individual affected.

I upgraded my rims with Hispec and had one develop similar cracks. I contacted Hispec, provided photos per their request and they shipped me a new rim within a couple of days.
I’d suggest giving them a call.

It may be worth checking with your dealer. Jayco now uses Tredit Aluminum Wheels which offers a lifetime warranty. I'm not sure what Hispec offered in 2016.
