Cushioned pin box

Good morning,
I’m new to pulling a fifth wheel. We’ve gone about 1000 miles total since we bought our Eagle HT. Love it, but I was considering upgrading to a cushioned pin box like the Moryde unit. Does anyone have first hand experience on going from a traditional pin box to a cushioned one? How significant is the difference in ride quality? Thanks.

Night and day difference... Reduces the chucking a lot
It does NOT fix bridge approach woop de whoops
Those you need to have good shocks and better roads

Wouldn't be without it. Morryde unit is well designed. Avoid the Lippert Rota-Flex pin box. It's no where near as good as the Morryde. I experienced both those units and standard pin box. Morryde allows some side to side as well.

I have air bags on truck and bilstein shocks... Those help but it's the road mostly!

What pressure do you run in your airbags? I’ve been experimenting with pressures. The max is 100 psi. Truck is level at 50. Wondering if that’s too much or too little.

Depends on the trip!
50psi when on a short trip on known roads running 58mph. 70psi when we snowbird to Florida on interstates! Trailer is loaded about the same for both trips! Michigan and Indiana roads are frost heaved so bad!

I ordered and installed a MorRyde hitchpin and installed it myself. I made a difference in the chucking on most roads it also give some cushion to side to side movement.
Many roads give in but some overcome. Example : poured concrete with seams!
It’s less expensive to get it on a new rig on delivery.

There was a MorRyde pinbox on my North Point when I bought it new. After two repairs for the stress crack I installed a Flexair pinbox (21k) myself as well as Roadmaster shock system. The combination of both made a significant difference. Although, the Roadmaster would not install out of the box because of how Jayco installs the suspension to the I-frame. I had a spring shop fabricate the upper brackets and weld them on. I found the ride from the Flexair to be superior to the MorRyde setup.

Cushioned pin box

I installed the airborne on our HT this spring and am very happy with it and the wife no longer needs to wear a sports Bra.

I decided to go with the airborne to avoid a nose high condition.
