Our dead bolt lock is stuck shut and we can't get in. No RV tech available (holiday weekend). Short of punching the lock out, any suggections?

If it's just binding, and not broken, try a spray of WD40 in the lock, and pushing on the door at the lock side while turning the key. Good luck, and let us know if you get in.

That didn't work. Just bound up I think, but now a "helper " is trying to drill it out.

Well, it got drilled out with no other damage than to the dead bolt portion. When we get home it's getting replaced with a keyless one. Should have done that long ago. Thanks for the help!

The keyless ones are not reliable either.. At least in my opinion.

Hi Grumpy...is there a better solution? This one has stuck a couple of times before, very infrequently, but we've always been able to get it open with a few wiggles and nothing drastic.

I agree with Grumpy, I have a keyless entry, it’s great when it works which is most of the time but sometimes it doesn’t and if you don’t have your keys with you - you are locked out, kind of defeats the keyless advantage. If my kids are camping with me I like not having to worry about them losing my keys but I always carry my keys when I leave the Camper.

Obviously the keyless are more expensive. In you opinion are they worth it overall as long as you keep keys with you or in tow vehicle?

Sounds like it could be a defective lock.

It's the original lock from 2011. Guess it just had enough.

Just something else to break and get in the way. Mechanical is always better in my book.

I did have to replace my original 2010 lock a couple of years ago. It just wore out.

I have the keyless entry as well. Has worked fine since we've had it. I don't take a key with me, but do keep a spare in the tow vehicle just in case.

I keep a complete set of RV keys and tow vehicle key in a hidden mag box. I added locks to all doors so I now have four keys plus blue tooth lock.
Several years ago I did a stupid thing at a rest stop picnic area. A storm was coming and we quickly cleaned up. In the hurry picking up my Rv keys were mixed in with the trash. Six hours later at next campground I discovered what I did. If not for my hidden keys we would of been screwed. Two trips ago I had inside handle break on door lock. Replaced with the same Bauer keyless but bought the blue tooth model.
