decision dilemma

We thought we were close to a decision on a Pinnacle 36RSQS but now I'm not sure. Maybe I'm reading into it too much in my research of various threads. They now have a poly/vinyl roof (like a pool liner) which the salesman says is less maintenance. They come with all electric schwintek slides and of course the electric jacks, both which have apparently been issues for some on this site.
Should I worry about these complaints from others on this board or just bite the bullet and order the rig?

Remember Jayco makes over 50 RV's a day, you hear about very few issues. Every product can has some issues, Jayco seems to be good about taking care of those issues. Every brand use many of the same components so switching brands will make little difference.

We have an Eagle Premier with 1 schwintech slide for the bedroom and have had no troubles with it. The 2 big slides have the lipert slide mechanism (I guess) and I've had an issue with one of the big slides that I think was my error.
The rubber roof (Alpha-Ply on mine) has been trouble free for us.

I have Lipert slide mechanism, so I can't comment on the Schwintech. My slide has been trouble and maintenace free.

What I will comment on is roof maintenance. In my experience the actual membrane material requires very little maintenance beyond occasional cleaning. The required maintenance is on the seals (caulking)...you will still need to be vigilant in your inspections of these seals regardless if you EPDM, TPO or a Poly/Vinyl that you mention. Warrantly DOES NOT cover seals/caulking beyond 90 days since they are considered a customer maintenace item.

As Waggs mentioned, its much easlier to find issues posted online opposed to compliments. However one thing seems to remain constant, the folks who encounter issues with their new Jayco RV are taken care of by Jayco with little fuss. The selling, or servicing, dealer is often the bigger headache. If you have a good dealer and like the unit I would not hesitate to purchase. If your dealer has a reputation to not provided great service after the sale, or if you plan to get service from a local dealer who didn't sell you the RV, that would be a bigger concenrn for me over the roof membrane or slide mechanism.

X2. I've owned a Forest River, Keystone, and a Jayco. The Jayco has been by far the best quality. I hate to put it this way but if you want an RV, many of those decisions are out of your hands so you just have to bite the bullet and hope for the best. Jayco definitely gives you the best odds however. Good luck.

Virtually all rvs use the same slide mechanisms and roof materials. Everything else to I might ass. The difference is workmanship and service after the sale. I have both types of slides and the Schwintek has been trouble free. As stated the roof material is not the issue, it is the regular maintenance of seams and roof openings that have to be done or initiated by the owner.

I would have a Pinnacle if I could have afforded one. We settled for a left over Eagle351RLTS and have never regretted it.
