Differential?
Ok guys this is a covin-19 quarantine question, only because I am so bored.
Can one put a differential rear end on travel trailer or fifth wheel? Assuming one can fine the correct length.
If so would it serve any purpose? ie. less twisting on the suspension system.

The twisting comes from the wheels trying to move sideways during sharp turns. A differential would not help. HOWEVER, in answer to your question, yes, I think one can figure a way to attach a differential to trailer.

The wheels are already independent from each other and not driven by a driveshaft so what's the point?
Are you having any symptoms?

And it would add un-needed additional weight.

Differential
I have no issues, other then boredom. How does each wheel turn independently if they are on a single axle? Do they rotate the same number of revolutions?
Sorry to to take up space & time BUT I am bored !!!!!!

The hubs are independent of the axle tube. Nothing connects them together as a rotating mass. Each hub turns on the end of the axle on the spindle. Nothing physically ties the two together. They are completely independent of each other. Like the front wheels of a rwd vehicle or rear wheels of a fwd vehicle.
Why so bored? Not working? Not camping?

All the wheels on trailer axles are completely independent of each other. There's no axle shaft through the tube you see underneath, connecting one wheel to the other, so a differential is unnecessary. They're only required on drive wheels.

Of course. On another thread, I commented on the gross distortion of my tires on the Pinnacle during a near 90 degree jacknife to get into a tight spot. Then somebody commented that part of it was due to the lack of a differential, and I bought into it - for a moment. Now I see how silly that was. It was just pure torsional tire scrub and I have since turned up my cold tire pressure to the 80 psi on the sidewall.
Now, when I "get out of Dodge" (city, KS) we'll be fully locked and loaded.
Thanks
Angus

hmmmm Mustang65.. chime in here
So if ya swapped out the rear axle of your TT and had a regenerative braking system attached to the pinon shaft of that differential housing... Instead of generating heat in the braking cycle with traditional electric brakes - It could be triggering the regenerative charging that would charge the house batteries.
