direct tv

As of now I have dish, pay as you go, My son has Direct TV in his house. He does not have an RV but I do, So the million dollar question, If I buy another receiver can I get Direct TV about 200 miles from his house without interrupting his services. I have an Vanguard portable dish, I know I have to change the setting from Dish to Direct.

receiver has to be associated with the Direct account. Someone's got to pay.

As Norty said, he would have to add it to his account paying the monthly $6.00 fee. With that said if Direct finds out the receiver is at another address they will back bill you for the full costs of a second account.

I have never heard of a Vanguard Dish, but Winegard is a popular brand. Depending on the model, most automatic dishes will not do DirecTv in HD. With that said, your son can tell DirecTv that he will be using the receiver for tailgating and add to his account.

I've been in the satellite business for over 30 years and there has never been a Vanguard brand dish for receiving satellite signals that I have ever heard of. I did research and found an actual communication satellite that was launched and called Vanguard. Not being a smartie, but it's much easier to help someone when you get the Brand and model number right for what you need help with.

Am a Dish vs Direct customer but the short answer to your ?? is YES. Son has to add the additional signal to his account and you're good to go. Only thing to note is that you will receive all the same channels as your son, including Locals if you are inside the spot beam for the locals. If you travel. no locals. What Direct doesn't know won't hurt you so if you have a problem with the receiver you can not contact direct yourself, your son must be the caller.

Sat receivers are routinely activated for RV's off of Home sat service by adding a receiver or just unplugging a home receiver and taking it on the road with you. I have 2 extra receivers, one for my houseboat and the 2nd for the White Hawk. Originally just swapped a single receiver between the two toys, but needed the 2nd when the wife wanted her own sat tv in the rv bedroom. At $7 a month, I just never got around to cancelling the 2nd one when we got home from last years winter trip.

I am kinda lost in trying to figure out your dilemma.

If your rv Winegard dish can receive either, why not just add it to your service subscription and eliminate a lot of confusion when trouble reporting time comes?

My question is if you are already on Dish at home, why not just pull a receiver or get a new one on your account????

He said he had Dish's month to month service. If he gets a direct receiver added to his son's account, he would not renew the Dish account.
