Honestly I can't see any reason not to turn the AC off before you disconnect, then turn it back on once you reach the next destination. I would be afraid of a power surge when the electricity is turned back on. I don't know if that could really happen.

A good friend who knows what he is talking about told me to always turn off the A/C when plugging in or cranking the generator so as not to have too big a surge when power comes on. When plugging or unplugging from shore power, I always (at least I try to) click the master disconnect off just in case there is something wrong with the power. Once I'm sure everything is good, master disconnect goes back on and power hogs (A/Cs) go back on one at a time. Takes an extra minute or two but better safe than sorry.

Turning off the master switch when pugging in. That's probably a good idea.
