Do you think this is faded enough?
Was wanting to get a few opinions before I contact Jayco. Still under warranty for a few more months. 2018 Jayco, does this cap look faded enough to you that warranty would cover it to be repainted? Mostly above the Jayco bird is the most noticeable part.

Because of the color it’s not super apparent but the last 2 pics show it pretty well. IMHO it’s too early for your 5th to be showing that much oxidation. I’d run it past your dealer to get them and Jayco involved. The latter is the most important since they have the ultimate say and will pay for the respray. If the dealer doesn’t want to deal with it go directly to Jayco.

Yes, your front cap needs to be stripped and repainted. This is a common problem. My 2018 shows the same as your and the CW dealer got Jayco approval to fix it. Its not just oxidation as it apparently is the front cap manufacturer who messed up the clearcoat. And not just Jayco models. Get your dealer on it right away while under warranty. Once they get approval, they will order the decals and set up a time for you to drop it off. My CW said they need 2-3 days to get it done. They also said they repaint about 3 per week. Good luck and document all your efforts in case you need that in the future.
Happy RVing,
Jeff

My front cap pattern looks pretty much like yours only worse and gets worse everyday. I contacted my dealer a week ago and they have set me up with a shop to get it taken care of before the warranty runs out. It just seemed to appear all of a sudden but is starting to look pretty bad.

Thanks for your opinions. The info is what I thought it would be. Never hurts to have too much information when you are about to do something. You never know when someone is lazy and trying to play you.

Our 2017 28.5RSTS goes to the shop this coming Monday to get the front cap repainted. Once we noticed the fading this past spring it got worse in the summer heat.

My Jayco did the same thing after 18 months. My dealer sent pics to Jayco and they repainted it under warranty. It's a very common problem. My only worry is it might happen again. I wax it every 2-3 months and I'm considering a cover but they are a pain in the neck to put on and off especially for an old guy.

I was one of the first to get the front cap cared for by JAYCO. The proper procedure is:
1 - Take the best pictures you can (try different times of day to get the best pictures)
2 - Attach the pictures to an email and send to service@jayco.com
3 - Include description of the problem, your name/address, your VIN number asking them how they want to handle your problem
4 - This will make an OFFICIAL notification with JAYCO.
5 - JAYCO will respond with how you need to get the problem resolved and then you can contact the authorized JAYCO dealer that can handle your problem.
If you go to the dealer first, they will contact JAYCO when they get around to it. By going to JAYCO first you are on record and the dealer can not give you any BS and you are in the drivers seat.
Since your warranty is just about to expire, you can have the service department match your side TT color and paint the cap the same color. To get an exact match, the service department used a special digital camera to match the colors on our TT. They came out exactly the same color.
In order to stop the oxidation, the entire front cap needs to be sanded down to the fiberglass. If it is not, eventually the oxidation will bleed through the new paint.
Ours was done in 2013 and looks as good today a it did when we picked it up after the cap was redone. Wax it 2x a year.

Good luck,
Don

I'm hoping the new paint on ours will not fade after a year or so. Surely the new paint won't be the same mixture that is causing the fading problems we are seeing. Some have posted on other blogs about fading that after being repainted their front caps are still looking nice

As I understand it requires sanding the original tell coat off, priming and painting. Ours has looked good for 3 years.

My 2018 Eagle is at the body shop now having the front cap sanded, painted and cleared. Mine looked the same as your front cap. I emailed pictures to Jayco before I took mine to my dealer. Jayco responded they would pay $1500.00 to restore the front cap. I have read in other posts on here where others were quoted the same for the repair. To sand, paint and clear the front cap is $1500.00 and the decals and labor to apply the decals is $500.00. So I have to pay $500.00 to have the decals put on the front cap. My dealer had 4 Eagles for the same repair when I dropped mine off.

Why wouldn't Jayco pay for the new decals? After all, the need for new decals to be applied is because the cap is faded and needs repainting.

Best I can tell from posts on here before 2019 Jayco use to pay the total cost. All posts I have seen on here this year Jayco will only pay $1500.00. If it cost more than that the owner has to pay the rest. I did not tell my dealer that Jayco told me they would only pay $1500.00, just to see what Jayco told my dealer. My dealer confirmed $1500.00 was the max they would pay and if I wanted the decals I had to pay for that. Which I am. I saw one at the dealer with out the decals and it looked naked with out them.

Stopped by to take a look at the new paint job on our 2017 28.5RSTS and it looks pretty good. And of course Jayco sent the wrong decals so waiting on the right decals to be reordered and shipped

Sent the pictures to our dealer. Told then we would like a fall date to avoid interrupting our camping but before our warranty expires.

As mentioned in post #8, send pictures in an email to JAYCO to insure that your complaint is on file with them, do not put your trust in the dealership

Just got approval from Jayco for the re-paint of the cap on our 2018 28.5 HT. Just need to make an appointment to get it in at the designated repair shop.
