Eagle 325BHQS Real-world weights

Hi All,
I'm looking at the Eagle 325BHQS and I'm wondering what the real world pin weight will be once loaded reasonably for camping? We don't boondock, so no plans on hauling lots of water. We're weekenders, so we travel fairly light (about 1,000 pounds with all gear and stuff). Published dry pin is 2,245 so I would expect another 200 to 250 pounds once loaded. Of course, that dry pin probably doesn't include any options...so another 200 or pounds may be in order?

For part two of the question, i have a '15 GMS 2500HD with payload a hair over 3,000. I have the 6.0 gasser. Is the 325BHQS going to be a bad experience for that truck?

Thanks!

Jayco 325BHQS Specs

Unloaded Vehicle Weight (lbs) View Definition 11135
Dry Hitch Weight (lbs) View Definition 2245
Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (lbs) View Definition 13750
Cargo Carrying Capacity (lbs) View Definition 2615

Loaded for camping will probably be around 12,500lbs

12500*.20=2500lbs or up to 3125lbs using 25% pin weight.

How many passengers and how much cargo are you carrying in the tow vehicle? If you are around 2500lbs pin weight then you will have around 400lbs for cargo assuming 100lbs for a hitch.

You will probably be a bit over on payload but most (all?) 3/4 tons are identical to 1 tons other than the springs so some airbags would help with carrying the weight.
Power wise you will probably be going pretty slow up some climbs but you will get there.

The above is all speculation though and you will have to wait for someone with the same model to give you an actual pin weight.

Cheers

I have the same model. I can report actual weights a week from Saturday. I plan to hit the scales on our way to Myrtle Beach next weekend. I've already weighed the truck, and I'm sure I'm going to be over my gvwr of 10k, but most are. I'm pretty sure I'll come in just under gcwr, and I should be just under my rear axle Max of 6500. Our trip to the beach is the heaviest I'll be.

Like Subaru said, I'm guessing around 12,500 for fiver. Not sure how long of trips you plan to take, but that 6.0 will have it's hands full. I had a 6.0 a few years ago, and while I think it's a tough little gasser coupled with/4.10 axle, it will struggle. JMHO.

As requested, I stopped on the way to Myrtle Beach to weigh our 16 325 BHQS.

TV is a 2500 Ram SB 4dr w/Cummins @ 3.42 rear. Specs per Ram are:

Front axle Max of 6k
Rear axle Max of 6500
GVWR of 10k
GCWR of 25k

Unloaded (with me and full fuel) the Ram weighs in at:
Front axle 5k
Rear axle 3500lbs

Loaded for this trip which includes (wife, dog and 12yr old daughter) is the heaviest we will ever be:

Front axle @ 5180
Rear axle @ 6800 (over by 300)
GVWR @ 11,980
Trailer axle @ 10,280
GCWR @ 22,260

That 6.0 will struggle. Never thought my pin was that heavy. 10k axle I expected, but not 3300 pin.

IMHO you will be fine if your payload is 3,000 lbs. I also wouldn't lose sleep over the gasser as long as you aren't planning a lot of mountain trips.

Agreed on the mountain trips. I only tow 3-5 times a year, but they are through the mountains of KY, TN, NC and SC.

Thanks everyone for the help. We ended up passing on the unit and seeing the weights, I'm thinking I'm better off for it. I think the truck would do it but I would have to pack things to keep that pin weight done.

I'll say this about the 325. We really liked the build quality and basic layout. We didn't like the big slide on the camping side as it seems to break up the camping space between the front area and the rear kitchen. It's a super nice rig and I'm a little sad the deal didn't work out for us.

This is great info, I ordered a '18 325 and will be towing with a '12 ram 2500 with the cummins. One question I got for you is, do you have airbags or any sort of helper spring on your truck? I won't be picking the camper up until end of July or beginning of August.

Love our 2017 325bhqs. We're pulling it with a 2016 gmc 2500 duramax and it rests dead level on the truck. No sag at all.

I was actually concerned with the slide on the camp side too, but quickly got over it. We don't even notice it now. Coupled with the additional awning, it only adds to camping space now.

I do not have any air bags. My truck is running the coil springs in the rear, and actually my sag is not as bad as you would think with the rear axle maxed out. I may add some at a later date just to help, but like I said in a previous post, we only travel 3-5 times a year. The rest of the year we are on a seasonal lease site at our home lake.
