Electrical issue

Ok gurus-

I need some help! The main lights in the living room, bedroom slide and LCI monitor are not getting battery power. They do not come on with shore power. The monitor will light up but itís offline and doesnít reflect a battery reading. I had a tech come out and was useless. He had no idea. The manual switches in the door do not operate the lights or slide either. Help! We have new batteries and all the breakers and fuses appear to be fine. Everything else works.

When was that last time everything worked? Have you worked on anything since then?

Last time everything worked was mid Jan.we’ve had some storms since then, but not sure where to narrow down the search to. I didn’t know if there was like an inline fuse or something from the battery to another terminal or switch or something.

For a brief moment he got the living room lights to come on but they were super dim and then they went out. It I can’t replicate how he got them to come on.

Do your regular outlets work when your shore power is plugged in?
It is sounding like you have a problem with converter/charger for your 12 volt side of things.

When he came he said the converter was fine. He did check that. The only issue is it changes the mode when we reset it to boost mode, which likely burned up the batteries the first time.

Quick question - did you press the battery disconnect switch for more than 1 second? If so you may have disabled it. See attached picture.

For 12 volt items to function in an RV requires a few things. I would first measure the voltage at the battery to verify that it is indeed good. While there take a peek at the battery's ground cable connection to the frame. Odds are it is OK but those things can come loose and cause all kinds of problems.

Assuming the battery voltage is good, the next step is to measure the 12 volts at the fuse panel. You can pull any fuse (if there are no open fuse clips available) and measure from each connection to a metal ground. Odds are you will not measure anything there.

If you measure voltage at the battery and the ground is good but don't measure it at the fuse panel, odds are there is an open in the line that feeds from the battery positive to the fuse panel. The battery disconnect switch is inline with that feed and may not be working properly. If you hold in the switch for the disconnect for more than a second, it can disable it. The result is no 12 volt power. There may be a breaker inline with the feed also.
