How funny, we have lived in TX about 11 years now and we are from Port Jefferson. As far as some tips, the sites usually are not ready for check-in till around 1pm. The cast members clean and hose down every site after a guest leaves. DO NOT arrive a night time as it is pitch black. We have stayed in loop 1400 and 500 both of witch are premium sites. All premium sites have the better views such as water and are closest to the amenities in the Fort. If you want to do any activities like horse back riding, or archery you need to make a reservation. We also found it easier to drive to the parks instead of waiting for the buses. You get free parking at the parks since your a guest at a Disney property. Only exception to driving was going to Magic Kingdom which it was easier to take the boat from the fort. Other than that just have an awesome time and feel free to decorate your site.
