Extended Warranty

I am new to the forum having just bought a 2023 Jayco Eagle 30.5 CKTS Fifth Wheel. I am looking for thoughts on Jayco’s extended warranty up to 7 years which costs approx. $4500 (includes coach, superior and optional coverage). Wondering if it is worth it or if the extended warranty is typically denied by the manufacturer in many cases. The exclusions in the warranty seem to lead to many things being excluded on a warranty claim if one has to do so. I welcome any thoughts or advice you can provide a Newbie! Thank you, lshivak.

It would be a dealer's or 3rd party warranty, Jayco doesn't offer anything directly.

Extended warranties are like insurance - or a casino - The house always wins. I would rather put a set amount of money away each month into a separate account so IF I had a failure I could cover the cost with my own money. Just search any forum including this one for how hard it is to even get regular warranty work covered. These companies do everything they can to not honor a claim. If you put your own money towards repairs you are ahead of the game all the way around. Just my opinion of course.

You will likely get responses like well they covered the cost of my this or they covered the cost of my that, but balance that by how many claims denied responses you get...

Ishivak, You will get varying responses in regard to warranty. Understand first, as Grumpy said, most of what you want a warranty on are not JAYCO components. They are made by other companies. Jayco will point you to those companies, i.e. if you water heater goes bad, it is made by Atwood, etc. etc, etc. Same with most all appliances in your 5th wheel. I am not an advocate of paying $4500 to bet my brand new 5th wheel will fail. Again, the casino scenario. Marcm157 said it best IMHO, save the funds and deal with it as it happens. You may find you will be much happier and over time, probably be funds ahead. At today's rates, your APR % over time will be larger than most repair cost. Again, just my honest opinion. Happy Camping, SKIDAWG

Hundreds of posts on many, many threads on here about extended service plans. Try the search feature at the top of the page and then settle down to reading. Some swear by them some do not like them at all but basically they are money makers for the sales location and not the vehicle owner.

Dave Ramsey says extended warranties are not a good investment, and is just another way for the producer to get money out of your pocket. As stated above, save the money yourself in an emergency fund, and pay for any failures out of that.

That being said, I did buy Good Sam's tow vehicle warranty, and two months later had a transmission failure 4k miles out o MFG warrnty. They did come through with the $5000 (less $500 deductible) to replace it. I think it was $49/year, and I thought it was worth it. That was my first extended warranty, and I was glad I did it, but I have never had a failure and regretted not buying one.

Choose wisely.

Extended Warrany

High profit item for dealer, waste of money for owner, in my opinion!

We have not used it yet, just went out of the Jayco warranty. It was through the dealer. Actually, it is 2 separate ones. One covers all the interior against fading, tears from normal wear/animal scratch, etc. second one covers the mechanicals. Can't remember the names, will have to go to camper to find out.

I had a 7 year XtraRide policy. They paid out about 20k over 7 years. Not counting the 7 years of low end items I fixed or replaced. Last visit was a new big 4 door Norcold, ( price one of those things) AC unit, TV, schwintec assy and suspension center rubber mount assy.

You were likely in the minority.
