F350 vs F450

About to pull the trigger on one or the other. We wii never pull a fifth wheel over 17,000#, we use the truck a lot as a car once we get there, but really like the shorter turning radius. Concerned about ride quality and fuel mileage. Would appreciate hearing about anyone’s experience with late model of either of these trucks.

Look into your State Regs, some classify the F450 as Commercial when licensing $$$.

I have a 2019 F450. The turning radius pushed me over the edge, vs a 350, and I drive it daily. I've never, ever regretted my decision.

When I asked my Ford dealer the difference between the two, he said "an extra leaf in the springs" (for the 450 of course).

Ours is a our daily driver and we both love driving it. We anticipated having to park way out in parking lots where we could take up two spots without upsetting anyone. What I did not anticipate was the turning radius of the longbed version - like that of a 747. So that took getting used to. If you miss a turn, there are often no more U-turns or even 3-pointers.

We also anticipated the stiff ride when driving empty but it's not as bad as I though it would be. The room inside is awesome with great creature comforts. We ride with 4 small dogs and 4 cats, with the cats in a 4' X 2' diameter "Pet tube" in the back seat (think of a cloth covered slinky that zips flat for storage).

As newbies to trucks and RV's we appreciate the terrific utility of the cameras (like 6 of them) that provide a bird's eye helicopter view when parking. Other brands did not have that (yet).

When I came home with the paperwork after buying the truck, Joan was through-the-roof furious with me when she saw the price. Then she drove it. "I get it now", she says. Especially when she drives it with the house in tow... "I totally get this; good job baby"... We feel safe as can be with 8 1/2 tons behind us.

Hmmmm. I looked for a Tonka but could not find it in my color.

No question, it’s all about “where the rubber meets the road”. Drive both and you will choose 450. Why sell yourself short and any resale possibilities.

I have a 2019 ford f450 before that i had a 2018 350 both good trucks but the 450 is in a different league yes the fuel is a bit up on the 350 but that is the only down side when towing the turning radius is so much better it allso has much bigger brakes thats a plus if you own a 41 ft jayco with 1950 electric brakes,I now have disc's on my fifth so much better.

One thing to consider: all Ford dealerships are not authorized to work on F-450’s so if you travel extensively keep that in mind.

I went from a Ram 3500 to a F450. I will not look back. I love the turning radius and the power of the 2019 F450. The kiddos also have more room in the back than they did in the ram.

Well, pulled the trigger yesterday on a 350 dually. Drove a 450-turning was amazing but thought ride was pretty harsh. Decided that we spend more time riding down the road than turning in parking lots. 350 turning seems slightly better than the Silverado 2500 we have been used to for three years so no change there. Now just have to wait.

Congrats. Did you happen to check tire pressure on the 450 you test drove? Some dealers pump the commercial tires to the max sidewall setting of 110psi. When not hauling, I run 65psi f/r, rides much softer, similar to a 350.

Now that a decision has been made i would love to post pics but it is an ordered truck. Not even sure it will be here before we leave for the sunny south in February. May not see new truck until we return late March-which will just kill me!

How or where did you hear of this? Is it possibly due to not selling them at their dealership. So they don't have a certified mechanic?
