Fan question

My kitchen fan tastic vent fan when open does not turn off. Lowest speed is as far off as it goes. The only way to completely stop fan is to close the vent. Model is the 5300. Manuel only says it has 13 speeds not including off. Not including off, what does that actually mean. Seems weird that u cannot lv vent open (if in storage) with fan off. CW said they do not turn off when open but I will not believe any thing they say.

If nothing else pull the fuse in the fan, it's easily accessible.

Guys
To pull fuse have to use a ladder. Yes hit down button and it closes and turns off. My question is, is it suppose to be able to turn off when lid is open or will it just run forever. Will your same model fans turn off when open or is mine defective? I will call fan tastic on monday

My fan operates the same way. I have to power it down and open the cover using the knob if I don't want the fan to run. It would certainly be nice to have the lowest setting be "Off".

Ok thanks. Ya I think that is a dumb design. To open mine manually I need a four ft ladder to get to it. I will call them and see if there is kit that will just let it stay open and not run.

Install a pull chain switch on the fan. Or even a 12VDC remote control switch.

I wish my rig was here so I could test it.
I have two fans both with the same wall controller we are talking about here and I'm almost 100% positive that the fan doesn't run when it is open.
If you've been reading posts about my solar, residential fridge and battery power then you would know how much I need to keep power saved.
I know I keep my vents open and there is no way I would leave both fans running even on lowest for 3days.
Can't say for sure though without trying it.

OK Rock, I went out to verify whether or not the fan runs if you just hit the up/dn button and discovered the fan won't run if that's all you do. Pushing the top power button opens it and turns the fan on. Pushing the up/dn button only opens or closes it. The down side is that it must be fully open or fully closed.

Thanks man. I just tried that did not even realize u can power it completely off. Not a thing in my owners Manuel. So much for CW u cannot turn them off when open. He said he even checked three others that were the same.

I replaced my wall controller for the main fan with the next model up that has the thermostat on it as well as the fan speeds. Plus the fan can be reversed to blow air in.
It's just the fan "guts" and the wall controll that needs to be replaced.
Then put the old guts and controller in the bathroom so no one has to reach up to work the fan.
Plus having the rain sensor in the bathroom now really made the job worthwhile.

Excuse my crudeness, but what do you mean no joy? I would think that she is much more flexible after being on the rack! LOL.
