That is the final threat that I have made if my
other pressures do not come to bear.
I would love to hear from others who have had this problem and no success with Jayco.

Class action for what?
Only one person has not gotten it fixed and they are a second owner. Also the post prior to yours says Forest River has seen the same type issue.

You clearly stated above your son was the second owner.

My question to you was, how do you know how many people have or have not got this matter fixed. Irregardless of whether it is the second owner, it is a negligent manufacture process by Jayco.
That is the crux of the issue here.

Jayco sells thousands of fifth wheels. Not all of them have cracked sidewalls. Only a few of us on the forum, which is a small percentage of Jayco owners, have had the crack. Those of us who have had the crack, either our dealer or Jayco has repaired it. No one on this forum has said their crack was denied under warranty.
Thats the kicker....under warranty. The warranty clearly states it applies to the original purchaser for 24 months from date of purchase. I hate to be the one to tell you this but your complaining to Jayco will be for naught. Your son is not the original purchaser and he’s outside of the time limit so they have no obligation whatsoever to provide any warranty. Sorry if this is harsh but sometimes the truth needs to be said. Good luck

Just like GM's peeling paint because of bad primer. They did not fix it for out of warranty 2nd owners, but it was over several model years.

I have the same trailer. My crack is very small and hasn't been growing since I first noticed it a couple of yrs ago. We tow 5-6000mi per yr.
We're 2nd (bought it @ 1yr old) owner so I haven't even asked Jayco for anything but engineering drawings. Why waste my time, I just fix things myself.
I recall there was a guy on the Ford forum when I hung out there with a non-Jayco that had multiple attempts to fix the same issue at the same location and ended up with the same repair... peel the side off forward of the slide and reinforce it all.
If you do a Google search you'll find it applies to Jayco, Montana, Keystone and others.

Glad to hear. I'm not going to spend $6000 to fix this. I'll drill the end of the crack and silicone it

Yup, no way I'd sink 6k$ into a 5yr old 30k$ trailer.

I wonder if there’s any insight on if this crack happens to those using an airbag type pin box?
Anybody using an airbag type pin box and get the dreaded crack?

I do not have an airbag pin box, but I do have bags on my truck. I did notice everytime I towed using my truck airbags the crack would get larger. When i did not use the bags the crack would stay the same size. Not really scientific just something I observed.

Is that welding on the edge of the bracket? I would think if it's screwed and welded then that was done for the repair.
Is access to you bottles from the front? Mine slide out from the side on a tray (pain in the butt getting the back one in n out).

When working at Camping World sales our rep Brad McKinney made a big deal about not having any expansion strip at bed room slide. He stated that Jayco had the best frame (Lippert) in industry. no need for split in fiberglass at that slide, he took us around Forest river and Heartland fivers showing us the plastic strip near the bedroom slide. He also made a big deal about using Lippert Ground control(electric) vs Hydraulic leveling system. I drank the Kool aid! sold Jayco like crazy..... I even bought a Seismic 4212 in 2015, I have a big crack on bedroom slide and the leveling system has been replaced 3 times. Haven't drank Kool aid in 4 years...….

No not a weld, some kind of sealant or glue. Access to my bottles in on the side of the unit, when you open the door both bottles are right there.

Oh man that stinks.
Welcome to the club, please PM your address and we will ship your new membership card and t-shirt that says "I bought a Jayco and all I got was this crack" also entitles you to 10% off drinks at many pubs across the country for your trouble.
Of course only kidding and I know it stinks, sounds like you still in warranty and hopefully Jayco takes care of it for you.

We should make hats to go with the T shirts. I don’t trust me dealer to change a light bulb. Hopefully I can get it into Jayco factory service.
The last trip was 98 miles. Happened on the way out to the campground. Interestingly it didn’t get any bigger on the way home yesterday. I was expecting it to spread. No more trips until spring.

That stinks. Sorry to hear this. I wonder why yours cracked so quickly as most of the rest of us had our crack show up seemingly all around the 1 year mark?
There still seems to be no discernible pattern that I can tell of which trailer will crack (and when) and which won’t. Maybe just luck of the draw
