Fifth wheel height

Just traded trucks from 2014 gas ford 250 to 2016 dodge 2500 diesel. New truck is Sits higher. Will I have to lower king pin on fifth wheel trailer to get it correct height over bed rails.. Or when I hook up will new truck sit low enough to be level .. Haven't installed fifth wheel into new truck yet,was going to call camper dealership for thoughts

You may want to hook up to the new TV first. The ne truck may have a stiffer suspension and might not squat as much. Just so you know how much you need to adjust.

When I changed from a 1993 Ford F250 to a 2007 Dodge 2500, I had to lower the setting on my hitch by one notch. Even with vehicle sag, it wasn't enough.

I had to lower 1 hole on the hitch to get it closer to level. Still a little nose high, by an inch as it appears, but the bubble level is showing about 1/4 " for every 2 ft of trailer, so I am good with it. If I go another hole I am afraid of hitting the trailer with the bed rails on uneven ground. Just at 6.5" on the tailgate.

This was going from a 2003 F350 DRW to a 2014 Ram 3500 DRW.

X2 on this reply. Once you have your rig hooked up, you can then determine the adjustments you will need to make. Changing the pin box holes is just one option, because you will still want to maintain the minimum bed rail clearance. You may also need to make adjustments at the leaf springs, shackles and possibly wheels and tires.

What is the minimum bed rail clearance?

Bed rail clearance is a minimum distance between the 5th wheel and the truck bed. Once you have hooked up your rig to the hitch, the typical minimum clearance should be at 6 inches or more.
