fifth wheel hitch Eagle 321RSTS

Looking for some feedback on hitches for a new Eagle 321RSTS. I am looking for what hitch you all are using. I have a 2018 F-250 as we all know ford in its infinite wisdom made these trucks very tall. Looking to see what you all are using and the clearances your experiencing with your bed rails.

Thanks

My truck has 6'8" bed. I'm on my 2nd hitch. The first was PullRite's 2400 SuperLite. I selected this one because I wanted a hitch that I could remove (light weight) so my pickup would have an empty bed. It worked great until I needed to turn my camper completely around in my driveway... full turn one way backup then full turn other way to pull forward. I did it with the wife in the front seat. Mistake. Before this she always walked alongside to warn me if the camper was going to hit the cab.
It did... fortunately the back window didn't break out and my cab is not made of aluminum, which is impossible to un-dent. While I was waiting for it's repair, I sold the hitch on Facebook Marketplace and bought the PullRite SuperGlide #2700. Now as I make a sharp turn-around in my driveway, the hitch automatically slides back near to the tale-gate keeping the camper far away from my cab. That problem solved. I don't think there's another hitch that allows this much angle. Next problem to solve is removing the heavy hitch to free up my bed. I found a used engine hoist on Facebook and picked up a rolling caddy flatbed that I drop the hitch onto and roll it into my garage. Sorry for such a long story. Any hitch will probably work as long as you don't turn too sharply... but I needed extreme.

X 2 on the Pullrite 2700. If you have 6’ 8 “ or less truck bed invest the money.
As someone stated on this forum before “it is not if you hit your window it is when you will hit your window. I have towed a FW for 7 years and took my window out last year. I purchased the Pullrite 2700 and it works great.

2018 F-250 with High Capacity Tow Package. Hitch is B&W Companion Slider for Ford Pucks. Arms are on the lowest and most forward position.

There is 7 inches of clearance over the bed rails. The truck sits level with the trailer 2” nose high.

The hitch was initially set 1 inch higher and 2 inches further back directly over the axle. The towing experience wasn’t good at all.

The slight adjustments made all the difference in the world.

Is the F250 a short bed? I assume that the Companion slider is the same as the Patriot slider? Not real familiar with B&W products. I don't have a goose ball in my bed. What was happening at the original settings that the adjustments corrected?

X4 on the Super glide 2700. Have made scary no way out, 90 degree turnaround maneuvers twice with my 6ft. 8 in. F250 SD. in blocked parking lots with no clearance issues. Backing up my driveway has 2 rather severe grade transitions. Level bed rail clearance is 7 in. No bed rail contact. I have a Superail mount. Very satisfied.

My truck doesn't have goose ball or puck system either. I got PullRite's SuperRail Mounting Kit. This allows me to remove everything in my bed without tools. Makes my truck look like it came with puck system.

I took my truck down to a local mechanic and he installed the mounts. Said the included instructions were pretty clear. Here's a video: https://youtu.be/8xeV14JERxM

This mounting kit and SuperRails allows you to use any brand hitch that mounts on rails.

Yes, it’s a short bed truck with the factory puck system. It’s also goose ball compatible but we don’t use that feature.

The original hitch setup felt like we were just bouncing down the road and crossing every bridge was an adventure.

Just the slight changes to the hitch setup took all of that uneasiness away.

This is very similar to adjusting the hitch head angle on a travel trailer weight distribution hitch. Just moving a little more weight toward the front of the vehicle can make a noticeable difference in towing quality.

I use the Anderson Ultimate 3220. Tied to a B&W turnover ball. Very happy with it for over 2 years.

I use the B&W. I would highly recommend it. I am a truck driver and this hitch design is the closest to what is on the big trucks... its tried and true design. It's durable and requires little maintenance. There are many great options and it dose very based on the truck. I have a longed so don't care about sliders. All I care about it bed rail clearance, and not have 100 holes in the bed of my truck. I personally did the companion and had the gooseneck ball put it then the hitch to the goose ball. 1 hole and if you hitch isn't in the truck the ball flips over so no holes.. no railes.
