I'm out I guess at 6'-5". Maybe need a Skyliner type roof above the bed.

I've owned both and as far as I'm concerned a 5th Wheel is the only way to go.

1.) You shorten your length because the bedroom is above your pickup bed.
2.) While traveling in windy conditions, there isn't hardly any wiggle, even being passed by oncoming semi trucks. I should know, I live in Kansas!
3.) The sense of security while traveling in bad weather conditions is far better than pulling a TT.

There's probably more things I could say, just can't think of any right now. If you would like to chat on the phone, I'd be more than happy to. My typing isn't the best. Here's my cell # 620-952-0724
If this helped you, then great.
Happy hunting on your next RV.
Chris

If I was towing I would go 5th W. But as a seasonal site camper with no intentions of towing, a TT was the right choice for us. We like the floor plan of the 38FDDS and the one level end to end.

The new Eagle TT's have awesome headroom in the bedroom. The older models are pretty good too when compared to a 5r. Just one more thing to consider between the two designs. In the 321RSTS, you lose the second door into the bathroom from the bedroom, when compared to the 330RSTS. Not fond of having to walk out into the hall to go to the bathroom. The TT version has a second, private sliding door into the bedroom.

You just have to way all your options and prioritize what is important to you.

The choice for us was easy since we absolutely HATE ceiling fans!!!!

Seriously though, we had numerous reasons for choosing a trailer (330RSTS) over a 5er (321RSTS) that had the same floorplan, options, etc.

Everything from how often we were going to tow, steps vs. no steps INSIDE the trailer, options (the same now, including auto leveling), weight (TT is much less), storage capacity (we have more with the pass thru and capped truck bed) overall cost (about 10 grand saved with the same option list) and the fact that I lease my trucks (they frown on punching holes in the bed) made the choice easy for us.

But in the end, your the only one that can take a lot of the insights offered here and make a decision that fits YOUR situation and camping style. Good Luck and make memories!!!!

Travel trailer for us.

We like the two doors on our trailer, direct access to the bathroom. We pack a lot on the bed of the truck, 4 bikes, chairs generator.

But most important of all, we like to boondock and camp in national forests. A 5th wheel is simply too tall for a lot of the places we squeeze into.

Make the best choice based on how YOU camp, and enjoy.

We take toys.. Bikes inside. Bikes in the truck bed ( bicycles..not dirt bikes) and kayaks or canoes on the truck roof.

I cannot figure out how to take 18 foot kayaks with a fifth wheel even with a front bumper rack. A 13 foot rec kayak isnt the same as a 18 foot sea kayak. And the high clearance of a fifth wheel would be a problem around here ( camp roads)

Were it not for the toy problem a fifth wheel would be easier for high winds cross country travel.
