filling fresh water with container when dry camping

I have a 2015 Jayco HT 27.5RLTS. How do I add water to the fresh water tank with a container when dry camping? I have tried to add water to the hose pressure tank fitting with a container and nothing goes in. Now what?

Try an automotive funnel with a bendable spout, saw this one on Amazon Should fit in opening.

Also, I have a 2 ft. long piece cut off an old hose. I put the rubber end in and the other I screw to my hose. You might fit a smaller funnel into that in a pinch.

I'm not familiar with this trailer, isn't there a gravity fill water cap too?

I agree with GrumpyDad. There should be two fill points, one marked "city Water" for a presurized connection to the campground city water and a second one. Mine is marked on the cap "no pressure water" and has a potable water only sticker above it.

On the rlts there is not a gravity fill. While I have not tried it yet I would set the connection to fill tank not city water. You can’t use a funnel either due to the connection type. You can fab up a water hose that will fit on to your container and then screw the other end onto the trailer water connection and dump away. Or if you dig in the manual you will find what they call country fill option on the valve settings behind the bulkhead and then use the water pump to pump the water out of your container into the trailer tank


You might be able to use a funnel if you take a hose cut off a few feet, screw it on to the connection then place the funnel into the cut end of the hose and pour from your container

If you hook up to the water connection and switch the lever to tank fill you have to use a pump. There's a pressure check valve which prohibits gravity fill. You'll have to switch your valving around and use your water pump to fill your water tank.

Dave, you already have a pump - your fresh water pump. Inside your belly storage area on the propane tank side, there is a removable panel that says 'Low Point Drain' which has behind it your water pump and two valves with a plastic tube. This is where you can add anti-freeze to your system or fill your fresh water tank from a container (works great). Get a longer hose (splice one on) change your valve positions appropriately like described in your user manual and turn on your fresh water pump and siphon your container water into tour trailer tank.
