Fire Exit

Hello everyone, My wife and I recently purchased a brand new ordered Pinnacle 36SSWS and we absolutely love it.. For the most part I haven't seemed to find much wrong with it so far. But its time to vent a bit, so thanks for standing by while I rant. I am wondering if the engineers who design these units were hitting the bottle at lunch or something when they designed the exit window in the living room area. (behind the tv??, WHAT???) so in the event of a fire. a smaller person ie: my wife, or a grand kid would have to TRY and push the TV down to have access to a fire escape window that allows you to climb out and fall to the ground on your head (real smart thinking) I know for sure in the event of a fire I am getting out any window and certainly not waiting to get around the TV but for others in a panic might not have the strength or determination to even figure out that the exit is behind the tv. If you are trying to present a safety standard then why wouldn't you redesign the back window of the coach. How about making the back window in three glass units, utilizing the middle section as your exit window. A person could stand on the couch, push the window open, climb out and grab the ladder and pull themselves out and climb down to safety. (makes a lot more sense doesn't it?) I am sure the powers to be at Jayco don't bother reading posts on here but I thought I would get this off my chest to people like me and you that want our rigs to be safe for all that may be using them
I would love to hear your comments and thanks for letting me vent..

I agree that the placement on your rig isn’t great. Our exit window is in the back on the opposite side of the ladder, which makes more sense.

You also bring up a good point about having family and friends with you on trips who may not be aware of safety related items and procedures for your RV. I highly recommend a safety briefing for guests (fire exits, extinguisher location and use, location of first aid kit, etc) right after setting up camp.

Our 2016 has the exit window in the rear of the rig. I think it was 2019 when they moved it to behind the TV and that is when the motorized lift for the TV had to go away. I really like my motorized TV and I am not sure if they moved it due to the Euro bunk or why?

I’m not being cynical but you really think that the designers care.

Truth!!

I'd doubt most people could get out any window too. Heck, from what I've seen, most people have a tough time getting out the standard door!

If you count the 2 doors, our 2016 28RLS has 5, door in the bedroom, window in the bedroom, door in the main cabin, side window and rear window in the main cabin.
While we're talking fire exits, how many of you carry an extra fire extinguisher? We added a second one to the bedroom wall. the stock one is on the other end of the RV past the second door, so basically if I was in the bedroom, I'd have to run thru the whole trailer to get to it.

Good reminder about extra extinguishers, especially for those of us with new RVs.

If you smell smoke or see fire or hear an alarm GET OUT!! Forget the fire extinguisher or your pants, get yourself and family and if possible pets, but get out.

SMOKE KILLS and incapacitates almost instantly and you don't have time to fight it. Flames will spread in the paneling like a bomb. GET OUT please.

If you have an outside fire, by all means use an extinguisher. But don't go back inside when it is burning.

What RogerR said. That's one reason we bought a TT with 2 exit DOORS.

We have the one that Jayco puts by the door,(the 36SSWS has only one exit door) I installed an extra extinguisher in the bedroom, as well as another one by the couch in the back. Yea, not even sure a grown man could get out of that small window. Like a said if there is a fire, we're getting out exit window or not that's for sure.
