Per below, I don't think it's the actual fan motor overheating, likely the heating element not getting enough air flow, overheating and shutting it down. Got pets? lots of dust? Look for air flow blockage, (most likely) or possibly the blower motor isn't spinning freely for some reason.
The original fireplace blower in our 5er barely moved any air. I replaced my blower with a larger one that actually blows air.

We've spoken with Furrion about your same issue with another customer and they informed us that the 88 error code on your Furrion fireplace means the blower fan is overheating. You want to make sure the inlet and outlets of the fireplace are free of debris and allow proper air flow. The outlet is the wire mesh on the front of the fireplace.
Once you have checked the inlets and outlets and made any adjustments, you can unplug the fireplace for 15-20 minutes to reset the circuit board. Our tech at Furrion mentioned sometimes simply shutting off the fireplace does not allow it to cool down properly.
It may also overheat the fan if the fireplace is used in 40 degree or below temperatures since it will be running all the time. The fan is not designed to take the place of a furnace, it's more of a supplemental heat source.
