Florida Storms

We’re in Key West and right now we’re getting one heck of a storm. It’s going to continue thru to midnight. It’s kind of enjoyable actually. Just relaxing in the camper and watching Mother Nature do her thing.

I also love to be in our camper during storms! It is very relaxing hearing the rain hit the roof. Enjoy and be safe!

We are in Naples / Marco Island listening to the same storm pound the roof. Better sound than snow!

I didn't think sn*w made any noise. We're supposed to get 5-8" tonight. I'll let you know tomorrow if it wakes me up. BTW you may need to go to the cemetery if you get too much rain, it is the highest point on the island ya know. I didn't know there were any campgrounds on Key West, last I knew the closest one was Leo's on Stock Island. Don't know if it's still there.

We’re at Boyd’s Campground. It’s also Stock Island but just 4 miles from old town Key West. FYI, Leo’s Campground is a block away. Both have a Key West mailing address so I guess they’re considered part of the new Key West??
There is one campground on Key West but reserved for active duty and retired military.

Ahh, fond memories of Leo's from many, many moons ago. I was there on my Royal Enfield motorcycle sometime around 1978 or so. Used to sleep in the tent until it got too hot then got out of the tent and slept on the picnic table till the sun finally woke me up for good, usually around noon. I remember I met a really pretty girl from Fairfax Virginia there. As I recall the bars were open to 4:00 and I was usually there at that time. I've slowed down a little since then. I'm still looking for my Head ski goggles I lost somewhere on the side of US-1 on the way down from my sister's house in West Palm.

Leo’s made quite a few nice improvements even since last year. While they still don’t have a pool their sites are nicer than Boyd’s for sure and their rates are about 2/3rds Boyd’s. The only problem is dogs are limited in size to 25 lbs. Site rates down here are obscene. We’ve stayed here a couple months the last 2 years but we’re staying on the main land next winter.

I was talking to my dad the other day, who lives in south Florida and he said they're in a pretty bad drought so sorry about the rain but you need it.

Yep, I noticed that there are not many puddles as the ground is soaking it up. Hopefully it was enough to get the state back on track for rainfall.

We pull out of Kingsland, Ga in a few minutes for 4 hours of road work into Central florida.

Spent a relaxing 24 hours during a torrential rain (a LOT of water and 30+mph winds) last year with no water intrusion so we got confirmed the sealing job they did at the factory was adequate. That said would not want to be in weather much worse than that.

Just a little cooler here

Anybody want to trade weather? Minus 32 f predicted here Wednesday morning. 60 degrees below freezing.
That is Fahrenheit not Celsius and not wind chill temperature.
minus 50 plus wind chill predicted. It is much warmer in Fairbanks Ak, although some what darker there.
I just signed up for Netflix.
